As they say, less than 5% of the deaths are a direct result of the Covid-10 viral infection or it is listed as the primary causal condition.
5% of the claimed 220,000 is less than 12,000.
95% of the ~220,000 attributed to Covid-19 were not directly caused by the Covid-19 virus.
On average there are around 55,000 deaths recorded every week in the USA.
Every Death Certificate must record three causes of death. The Covid-19 is included even if the deceased had not actually been tested, but in the opinion of a health care professional who most recently attended to them showed one or more of the symptoms of the virus.
One report attests that hospitals receive Federal funding of around $3,000 per patient being treated for the influenza virus. For those being treated for Covid-19, the funding becomes ~$13,000. Those requiring intubation for the Covid-19 receive over $30,000.

Covid-19 produces covid-19 antibodies that are stil present at any post mortem. Covid-19 is a respiratory disease and the lungs do not have an inherently strong immune response.

Codi-19 deaths are usually the result of a combination of pneumonia and P.E. Pulmonary Embolism. Blood clots in the lungs.

P.E. is the cause of most sudden death in the older cohort. Underlaying morbidity always contributes, makes the elderly more vulnerable to many pathogens, including seasonal flu, gastro and covid-19.

Nonetheless, if covid-19 antibodies are present and naught else? Then the medical certificate will record the cause of death as covid-19! Hence the numbers.

The thing to be realised is, that if Pres Trump hadn’t shut travel down from China and then Europe,
10 days after the world first became aware of the virus, that 200,000 death toll could be 3 or 4 times higher. Perhaps 600,000.

He imposed the travel ban, against the opinion of the World Health Organisation, who were still advising him
and the rest of the world, that they didn’t need to shut down their borders, because China was saying they had the virus contained.

Pelosi and Biden jumped in to grab the headlines, saying Trump was being racist, in shutting down travel from China
and saying the virus came from Wuhan.
I remember watching a video at the time of Biden saying TRUMP was over- reacting.

Of course as the body bags started to build, higher and higher in New York, because Of Democrat Mayor Cuomo’s
mishandling of lockdowns and lack of action,and putting infected people back in Nursing Homes, causing 18,000 deaths.

CUOMO refused to use the big well equipped Medical ship, Pres Trump had sent down to New York to help him.
It was well equipped with beds,and Drs and nurses. CUOMO refused to use the ship, to boost his own political power over Trump,
rather than send the infected old people to the ship, instead of back into the nursing homes.

The Democrats and their propaganda regime style, news media, stopped talking about Pres Trump shutting down travel from China as racist,
and blamed the death toll in New York,(which was in the early months, 50% of all deaths in America,) on Pres Trumps slowness to react. Never any holding to account of Cuomo,

Loudmouth2. I'd say that "For the majority of deaths where COVID-19 is reported on the death certificate (approximately 95%), COVID-19 is selected as the underlying cause of death." Straight from the CDC website. This should be direct enough.

In case you didn't understand it, "underlying" means not a primary cause, but just happens to be another condition that the patient had at the time of their death.
The remaining 5% are the patients where Covid-19 is recognised as the primary cause of death.
As mentioned earlier,for many of the over 80's deaths, there has been no formal Covid test, simply implied if the patient had shown a recognised indicator such as an elevated temperature.
