Is Trump going the way of Herbert Hoover? : Comments

By Keith Suter, published 29/7/2020

I would then joke that, despite his brilliant business career, Hoover presided over the slide into the Great Depression. Would Trump go the same way?

I doubt Trump will be re-elected, but we shall see given the 2016 result.

Four years of his policies means that most Americans know what to expect.

I think the next US presidential election is basically a referendum on the style of leadership the US people want going forward.

runner,
>yeah Aiden Trump has certainly been caught out lying but only
>a fraction of the lies he has exposed the leftist lying media and swamp telling.

With the possible exception of Pissgate (which was so obviously a fake that I'm surprised anyone ever believed it) I can't recall a single time Trump exposed any of the lies of the media. Indeed I reckon he's incapable of doing so, because when they say something he doesn't like, he FALSELY ACCUSES them of lying. If they're part of the swamp, he's preventing it from being drained.

>Three years of Russian delusion and still no apology.
We know for sure that Russia was trying to influence the election in Trump's favour. We also know some of Trump's staff were too closely linked to Russia, and Trump tried to stop it being investigated properly. If anyone should apologise, it's Trump.

>Reporting numerous fake race crimes,
What's your information source for that? I only recall hearing of two.

>Ukraine delusion,
What, apart from your support for Trump, makes you think that was a delusion?

>fake rape claims against potential judges,
Firstly you say that in the plural, but I'm only aware of one such incident. Were there really others? If so, what was the outcome?
Secondly, the media's reporting led to the claim being investigated. The judge had the presumption o innocence (as he was entitled to) and they found no evidence to overturn that. Do you seriously think the media remaining silent would've resulted in a better outcome?

>'peaceful' protests,
Most of them were peaceful. There were also a small number of traitors who set out to turn the protests violent. And importantly there were a third group: those who had intended to be peaceful, but, human nature being what it is, they turned violent when they perceived they were under attack by the police. It is quite worrying that American police lack training in deescalation. More worrying still, though not unexpected, is Trump trying to divide the public and not even considering the opposing views.

runner (continued),
> racist claims for stopping flights from Wuhan when China virus started to spread.
I agree that was pretty silly, though I don't think there was any deception intended. Unfortunately Trump's track record is somewhat racist, and it's all too easy to assume the worst.

You seem to have believed Trump's rhetoric about draining the swamp, and ignored the evidence that he's the deepest, most putrid part of it (and also throws the most tantrums).

> I don't approve of any lies.
I've noticed from your posts here that you approve of very many lies, though only when you believe them to be true. The problem is you tend to use how well something fits your worldview as the basis for determining whether or not it's true, instead of looking at the evidence.

>Why do you always support the lies of the lying liberal media.
I don't. However what you describe as the "lying liberal media" are normally pretty good at fact checking and communicating the truth.

>I have caught you out a number of times. Remember you claimed the who had
>not tweeted that the China virus has no human to human transmission.
I stand by that claim. The exact words of the tweet were:
"Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in Wuhan, China,"
What that means is that they didn't know whether or not there was human to human transmission. Obviously they should've known, and shouldn't've been so reliant on official sources. But the claim that they "tweeted it has no human to human transmission" is a lie.

individual,
Saying yes, I'd better check but failing to answer the question AFTER I checked (by asking you, which surely must be the most reliable way to tell what you're thinking?) suggests that my suspicions of an unthinking, instinctive response were correct. If that's not the case, please feel free to explain why!

Either way, please tell us what aspect of the demographic you think prevents improvement of the USA, and why?
