Is Trump going the way of Herbert Hoover? : Comments

By Keith Suter, published 29/7/2020

I would then joke that, despite his brilliant business career, Hoover presided over the slide into the Great Depression. Would Trump go the same way?

"Trump runs the risk of going the same way as Hoover."

If that happens, it's goodbye Free World, hello China. The alternative to Trump is a goose who can't complete a sentence, and takes his cue from the failure, Obama. The China virus will not suddenly disappear if Biden takes over (think loony-Left Victoria for a guide to that). The US economy won't improve under a socialist with an addled brain. China, having released what is surely a chemical weapon, will just sit back and watch the idiot West deliver itself to them.

Trumps biggest crime is that is has uncovered how corrupt the US Government and corporations are at the highest levels. From the FBI, Hollywood, facebook, twitter, the pharmaceutical companies to the totally lying left liberal media. The tantrum throwers have never accepted someone who would challenge and even get rid of some of the corruption. At the end of the day he has uncovered the enemies of the people. Clinton, Obama, Comey, Gates and I think you can throw Fauci in that mob have been exposed for what they are. If the US is really stupid enough to vote for the democrats it simply shows how very dumbed down and easily deceived the most 'educated' people in history are.

Recessions aren't the work of politicians, recessions are down to stupid folk demanding more than they contribute !

The luvees of the left and political elite underestimated Trump in 2016, and it seems they continue to do so. The USA is predominantly sensible, conservative and silent. The antics of Hollywood has-beens, the media , BLM etc will continue to insult and cherry-pick the best 'gotcha' grabs they can to try and convince us and themselves that Trump is doomed and a failure. If you could get an honest answer from China, they would disagree. China would love to have Biden and the Democrats, particular after this economic pandamic that has exposed " the West's" total weakness and shallowness.

This article is a just a weak attempt to intellectualise the authors wishful thinking. It has no analysis, no real facts and serves merely to show that the left political elite are still scared by Trumps approach and still have no idea of how to regain the privileged power they held before he arrived in their 'space'.

If by some chance, CNN et al manage to topple Trump (someone who is not easily admired as an individual), the world will suffer and China's 100 year-old strategy may be achieved much sooner than 2050.

ttbn,
The Hooverites controlling Congress were the main reason why Obama was such an ineffective president. Meanwhile China has no qualms about government deficits, and is not under the illusion that future generations will need to pay them back.

individual,
Recessions are usually very much the work of politicians. Australia's previous recession was primarily the result of Paul Keating setting interest rates too high.

Recessions are caused by too little money in the economy. The amount of money is set by monetary policy (which mostly means varying interest rates to influence private sector spending decisions) and monetary policy (the size of the government's deficit or surplus). The Great Depression was initially caused by the Federal Reserve trying to reimplement the Real Bills Doctrine, but was worsened by President Hoover's attempts to balance the budget.

Alison Jane,
> The USA is predominantly sensible, conservative and silent.
If that were true, Trump would not be President!
