Cat Stevens is a poster child for why Islam is so dangerous and it is incompatible with the west. He once wrote songs full of peace, love and mung beans, but then committed treason against his own Greek heritage by converting to the religion of his people's historical oppressors.

From a pacifist to a person whom admits that he would murder Salmon Rushdie if he could get away with it. That is what Islam does. It is a religion of hate and oppression which instructs it's followers to murder anybody who criticises their evil and backward religion. And Foxy sees nothing wrong with Islam?

Yusuf Islam is no longer the famous Cat Stevens. This is even though he repeated some old Cat Stevens' songs in occasional "new" albums 2006, 2009, 2014 and 2017. He now feels safe to perform some old hits like Peace Train.

Adopting Islam and renaming himself Yusuf Islam in December 1977 began Cat Stevens' CAREER SLIDE. His conversion was partly inspired by hearing the call to prayer in Muslim Morocco. Stevens grew an uncut beard which is now grey and looks oddly reminiscent of Osama bin Laden. Following his conversion, Islam abandoned his musical career for nearly 30 years.

On whether Islam really ended his career, Cat/Yusuf Islam, explained that when he became a Muslim in 1977, the Leader of his mosque told him that it was fine to continue as a singer. As musician, as long as the songs were morally acceptable AND he didn't play his guitar which being a stringed instrument is “haram” forbidden.

Later other Muslims said performing was completely “haram” forbidden so after a UNICEF concert in 1979 Yusuf Islam decided to stop performing live until 2007.

Yusuf Islam now used his music royalties to fund Islamic schools in the UK and Islamic charities in Indonesia, Iraq and Syria as well as UNICEF.

The US put him on a No Fly List. This caused him to be deported from Israel and the US in subsequent years. Those countries believed some of the charities he funded had terrorist links.

Cat Stevens is a nasty piece of work indeed, calling as he did for the death of Salman Rushdie. Rushdie's only crime was against literature.

It is often said that converts to alien, loony religions and cultures are the worst, and this creature proves it.

There is no place in Islamic philosophy for the spilling of a single drop of innocent blood and no place in paradise for those who knowingly do or are the hand that loads the gun or radicalise the terrorist.

. As for Cat Stevens? We can all form immature views based on ignorance and inculcated conditioning and indoctrination. Yet be open to having those views challenged by incontrovertible evidence that we were wrong!

That's a bit disingenuous, to cite the Sufi version of Islam: the question is, whether or not Islamist terrorists, in their multitudinous forms, use the Sufi version of the Koran or some more 'militant' or 'radical', more violent, more 'eye-for-an-eye' version.

I'm impressed with the little that I know of them, of the Sufi and Ahmaddiyah forms of Islam, and their reliance on the earlier Mecca verses in the Koran, before Muslims got much power and could write and implement the more 'active', 'robust' Medina verses. Since they are persecuted by ratbags in countries like Indonesia, Pakistan and Iran, there must be something worthwhile in their principles.

I wonder if Cat Stevens ever raised his voice in protest against the Islamist atrocities of ISIS or al Qaida ? Ever ?

I believe the newer versions and highly revised and edited versions of the Qoran is that the Islamist radicals use to justify their terrorist activities. And represent a vocal recalcitrant radical minority, still trying to fight the long-dead crusades, and redrawn boundaries. [Drawn up by the victors of WW11! And done to make the exploitation of the Middle East oil reserves easier!?]

Yusuf Islam has blamed the media and has stated unequivocally that he did not support a call for Rushdie to be attacked. You are inciting hatred. He played in my city where an Aussie killed fifty people, including the child who was a friend of my son's. Have some grace and have some shame. Do not contribute to hatred. I long ago tried to argue with lunatics on the forum who excused their strident calls for violence and their racism and now I realise I don't want anymore of this filth to permeate my brain. Educate against violence and look to peace. Why do you think that good, humble man sang 'Peace Train'? Oh and I lived in the Middle East where I found more tolerance and less racism, in both Qatar and Bahrain than I do in Australia. The information in the press at the time of the Ayatollah Khomeini's fatwa on Salmon Rushdie stated that Yusuf Islam was asked if he would kill Rushdie, and he said that he would. Now we have an OLO article where when asked if he would kill Rushdie, he said "not in a western country." That means he would unhesitatingly kill Rushdie himself if he was in a Muslim country, where he would be presumably hailed a hero for doing so.

The reason why this formerly peaceful hippie singer is now prepared to murder a writer, is because he is a Muslim, and Mohammad himself asked his followers to murder a writer who mocked him. Since the behaviour of this evil "prophet" is considered exemplary in Islam, then the culture of Muslims is to kill anyone who criticises Islam.

This fact alone makes Islam incompatible with the west. We are importing people into this country who will kill you if you criticise their religion. And Islam is one religion which is in dire need of a lot of criticism. It is violent, cruel, terrorism endorsing, homophobic, socially backward, and misogynist to boot. The devotees of this religion have proven to be a real problem in western countries for their refusal to assimilate. They inhabit increasingly Muslim only ghettoes where they ignore the secular laws of the countries which they have aspired to become citizens of, and have very high rates of welfare dependency and very high rates of serious violent crime, usually directed at non Muslims.

Quite frankly, we could find much better immigrants than these. People who can contribute and not just take, take, take, while openly displaying their contempt for the society many of them forced their way into.

If there are "peaceful" versions of Islam, then good luck to them. Please stay in your own countries and convert the overwhelming majority of violent ones to your "peaceful" religion, and leave us westerners alone at peace in our own
