A woman’s body, a woman’s choice, a woman’s fault : Comments

By Wendy Francis, published 13/4/2017

Miss X proceeded with the abortion but was so troubled that she could not keep the money. She has donated to World Vision, UNICEF, and to an orphan fund at Welfare Aid International.

"But in the case of ‘Miss X’, paid $50,000 in ‘go away’ money by Panthers star Bruce Cartwright, the choice about whether her 16-week old foetus lived or died was all his."

no it wasn't.

Anyone can pay a woman to ‘go away’ provided they have the money. Anyone can use power to try and influence a woman to have an abortion. This is not about men behaving badly it is about men using the money and power they have to achieve the desired outcomes they want. This is the way the world works and if you don’t like the way the world works then you should do something to change the balance of power in society so that it is not based on money or fame.

It is easy to make this a gender issue since it is impossible for women to use their power and influence to make a man have an abortion. Women abuse power and money as much as men do but it shows bitterness to single out some action that only men can be guilty of.

The author’s problem is with power and influence and has nothing to do with abortion. She does not like the fact that men can have power. Whatever the rights and wrongs about abortion some men will always have more power than other men and women. She needs to come to terms with that basic reality. If she was really concerned about the plight of the woman she would help her to see that she has the power to choose whether or not she continues with the pregnancy.

This is stupid, nobody can force a woman to have an abortion.
They have the right to choose if they want to terminate a pregnancy, but still want to blame men when they regret their choice.
They can't have it both ways.

They willingly engaged in unsafe sex.
They should take responsibility for the situation they themselves created.
It's nobody else's fault but their own.

If a woman has a right to say she doesn't wish to have a child to a man she slept with and terminate that child, than a man certainly has the right to express his wishes that he doesn't want to be the father of a child to a woman he slept with.

Whilst the man never has to 'carry' a child or endure an abortion, I don't see women paying men $50,000 to get rid of child they don't want for unsafe sex they both took part in.

I'm with the men on this one.
You can't force a woman to have an abortion. You can't force a woman to become pregnant.
Both of those issues are totally in the hands of women.
If women want men to take greater responsibility for a pregnancy then they need to grant greater rights to men over the product of that pregnancy.

and the secularist are disgusted with paedophile priests. Very selective outrage. I wonder where their 'moral'conscience comes from.
