Paying the problem: Australia and the people smuggling industry : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 2/11/2015

Nothing can get away from the fact that markets to move people find form when regulations restricting movement exist. As borders tighten, the market for people smugglers improves.

Anybody who talks about Amnesty International giving anything at all "credibility" is backing a loser.

Binoy Kampmark, like Amnesty International, has a huge chip on his shoulder when it comes to the West. He somehow manages to reconcile his dislike and contempt for us with the priviledge of being educated at Cambridge, and taking the Australia dollar at RMIT.

Such integrity!

Naturally Binoy Kampmark has a huge chip on his shoulder. His name is too similar to Harvie Krumpet http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bsBs0ebrB3M/UvluCWKV7ZI/AAAAAAAAAek/rEC5t_t4cRg/s1600/024.+Harvie+Krumpet.jpg

The bribes certainly tested the Honour of those righteous gentlemen, People Smugglers.

Thank god we had a man with some guts in Canberra for a while. Without him this clown author would be so happy. We have a whole great bunch of illegals here to support for the rest of their lives, or until we actually go broke, perhaps the more probable.

What's the betting the current slime ball goes to water, & like the KRudd, lets the flow start again?

Hasbeen,

You have great imagination or make things up...the vast majority of asylum seekers granted refugee status in Australia have jobs and/or started small businesses; are paying taxes and contributing to our society.

Possibly contributing more to Australia than your good self?

Seems that Peter King doesn't bother with, or know anything about, statistics either. The "vast majority" of Muslims - 85% - are still on welfare 5 years after they arrive.

ttbn...typical Australian newspaper based hyperbolic rubbish.

"The unemployment rate for recent migrants and temporary residents combined was 7%, compared with 5% for people born in Australia. Migrants with Australian citizenship had an unemployment rate of 7%. Temporary residents had a lower unemployment rate (5%) than recent migrants on a permanent visa (9%) (Table 2)."

From the "6250.0 - Characteristics of Recent Migrants, Australia, Nov 2010" on the Australian Bureau of Statistics web site.

if you are going to quote statistics or criticize for lack of them at least get your attributions right!

Masbeen's "huge bunch of illegals" is statistically 2% higher than the bogans.
