Prompete,
I agree with you. We should cut all relations with the corrupt UN. Australian politicians think of it as just another career path after politics, hence that awful little woman's push for seats on the Security Council and the HR Council, which is peopled by some of the worst thugs and abusers of human rights in the world. Connected with this UN bid is Turnbull's 'guarantee' that it would be back to cabinet decision making under his reign. I watched little madam tell a TV reporter that "It (the UN bid) was Malcolm's idea. "I took it to him, and he said yes." So, it was NOT Malcolm's idea? Bishop said gimme, gimme, and Malcolm gave? How is that a return to cabinet decisions? Posted by ttbn, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 11:42:50 AM

So Abbas told a few porkies, David does the same with "Jordan is Palestine" notwithstanding some of the following evidence:
The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. -- Exodus 15:14 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken : for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. -- Isaiah 14:29 Howl , O gate; cry , O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved : for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times. -- Isaiah 14:31 Specific references to "Palestine" date back nearly five hundred years before "the time of Jesus." In the 5th Century BCE, Herodotus, the first historian in Western civilization, referenced "Palestine" numerous times in chronicle of the ancient world, The Histories, including the following passage describing "Syrians of Palestine": "...they live in the coastal parts of Syria; and that region of Syria and all that lies between it and Egypt is called Palestine." (VII.89) The above translation by Harry Carter is featured in the 1958 Heritage Press edition of Herodotus' famous work. Both older and newer versions corroborate the accuracy of the reference. A. D. Godley's 1920 translation of the crucial line states, "This part of Syria as far as Egypt is all called Palestine", while Robin Waterfield's 1998 updated Oxford translationrenders the passage this way: "This part of Syria, all the way to the border with Egypt, is known as Palestine." So David, can you explain thie difference between yourself and Abbas? Posted by Geoff of Perth, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 2:54:33 PM

Here are some of the various Bibles translation of Exodus 15:14 You state: "So Abbas told a few porkies, David does the same with "Jordan is Palestine" notwithstanding some of the following evidence: The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. -- Exodus 15:14" Parallel Verses New International Version "The nations will hear and tremble; anguish will grip the people of Philistia. American Standard Version "The peoples have heard, they tremble: Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia." Douay-Rheims Bible Nations rose up, and were angry: sorrows took hold on the inhabitants of Philisthiim. Darby Bible Translation "The peoples heard it, they were afraid: A thrill seized the inhabitants of Philistia." English Revised Version "The peoples have heard, they tremble: Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia." Webster's Bible Translation The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. World English Bible "The peoples have heard. They tremble. Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia." Young's Literal Translation "Peoples have heard, they are troubled; Pain hath seized inhabitants of Philistia." Philistia 18 - Palestina 3 (name not used until Eretz Yirael was conquered by the Romans and given this name change) BTW: The PLO Coveneant explicitly states: "Palestine, with the boundaries it had during the British Mandate, is an indivisible territorial unit." Those boundaries included what is today called Jordan Even Yasser Arafat admitted: "Jordan and Palestine until 1945 were one State, actually. After the Second World War Churchill himself said:"This is Transjordan and this is Palestine".Before that [Jordan] was an emirate..completely part of Palestine" The New York Review of Books - 25 June 1987 Arafat's Deputy Abu Iyad was game enough to acknowledge: "You cannot make distinctions between between a Jordanian and a Palestinian...All those who tried in the past and are still trying to create divisions between the Jordanian and Palestinian people have failed. We indeed constitute one people." Kuwaiti News Agency - 15 December 1989 Marwan al Hamoud member of the Jordanian National Consultative Council and former Minister of Agriculture summed up the position succinctly: "Jordan is not just another Arab state with regard to Palestine but rather Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan in terms of territory, national identity, sufferings, hopes and aspirations, both day and night." Al Rai - Amman - 24 September 1980 As usual you have no credibility Sorry Geoff - the porky man is certainly you. Posted by david singer, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 6:50:29 PM

More porkies then David, all your previous evidence is revisionist rubbish as any good scholar would attest!
A hundred years later, in the mid-4th Century BCE, Aristotle made reference to the Dead Sea in his Meteorology. "Again if, as is fabled, there is a lake in Palestine, such that if you bind a man or beast and throw it in it floats and does not sink, this would bear out what we have said," he wrote. "They say that this lake is so bitter and salt that no fish live in it and that if you soak clothes in it and shake them it cleans them." (II.3) Two hundred years later, in the mid-2nd Century BCE, ancient geographer Polemon wrote of a place "not far from Arabia in the part of Syria called Palestine," while Greek travel writer Pausanias wrote in his Description of Greece, "In front of the sanctuary grow palm-trees, the fruit of which, though not wholly edible like the dates of Palestine, yet are riper than those of Ionia." (9.19.8) The noted Alexandrian Jewish philosopher Philo, writing around the 1stCentury CE, opined, "Also Syria in Palestine, which is occupied by no small part of the very populous nation of the Jews, is not unproductive of honourable virtue." (XII.75) Would you like some more? Clearly David the historical "facts" do you no service, perhaps you should become an author and see how far you can get with your own version of real history, not far me would surmise! Dismissing statements by Arafat, Iyad, Hamoud and the PLO Covenant that Jordan is part of Palestine as "revisionist rubbish" without substantiating your allegation is a waste of time. Can you guess what could possibly be the "revisionist rubbish" in the above translations in Part 1 above and in the translations of Exodus 15:14 which I referred you to in an earlier post where the score was "Philistia 18-Palestina 3? I am unaware that Heredotus, Aristotle, Polemeu,Pausanias and Philo would have written in English - so can only assume your quotes are "translations". Can you produce the originals in Greek or Latin so the translations can be verified? The generally accepted view is that it was not until the Romans crushed the second Jewish revolt against Rome in 135 A.D. under Bar Kochba that Emperor Hadrian applied the term Palestina to the Land of Israel. One matter of great consequence that you have brought to notice is Philo's comment in 1st century CE: "Also Syria in Palestine, which is occupied by no small part of the very populous nation of the Jews, is not unproductive of honourable virtue." Shock horror - Palestine - occupied by the very populous nation of the Jews? A Nation to boot? What say you to this astounding revelation? Did the League of Nations get it right when the Mandate spoke of recognition being given to the "historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and to the grounds for reconsitutuing their national home in that country"? Where are you getting your translations from? Are they sourced from non-partisan scholarly web sites or from propagandist self-serving Palestinian websites? Mine come from purely scholarly sources - take a look at this one http://biblehub.com/isaiah/14-29.htm No axe to grind for Jews or Arabs. Independent to the core. Why would you 1. pick one of the very few Bible translations that uses the term "palestina" when there are so many more that use the term "Philistia" 2. Not even mention there are many more Bibles that use the translation "Philistia" That is the kind of half truth Abbas used in his UN address. You are no better. Too smart and smarmy by far. Care to provide the links to your extensive sources? Posted by david singer, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 9:09:37 PM

I think there's some basis to say the Balfour Declaration should be null and void.
Not only that, I think the foolishness of these kids of deals is still being demonstrated in the Middle East today. When the land was still under the control of the Ottoman Empire, Zionists did a deal to obtain the land in Palestine from the British. There is nothing right about this from a Palestinian perspective. It was never the British Empires land to give. And look where this kind of backwards thinking has us today: http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/politics/2013/08/saudi-russia-putin-bandar-meeting-syria-egypt.html# Paragraph - Syria First "In the future, Syria will be ruled by a moderate and democratic regime that will be directly sponsored by us and that will have an interest in understanding Russia's interests and role in the region." Keyword: SPONSORED All these wars in the name of regime change are unconscionable. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 7 October 2015 4:43:24 AM

Regime change was done by Cretan Philistines, Joshua and the Anglicans.
Jewish Virtual library says "Palestine" is from peleshet, which appears 250 times in Tanakh, as the Canaanite people of today's Israel. The British mandate included Jordan and Israel in Palestine. Logically , Israel can be a Jordanian province of Canaan. Or Jordan can be an Israeli district in Arab Palestine. Posted by nicknamenick, Wednesday, 7 October 2015 6:10:55 AM

Getting scared now arent you singer.
Wont be long and the genocidal, apartheid theocracy that is israel will be no more. Sad really you had the chance to build a great country but just couldnt help yourselves with land theft, murder, oppression and ethnic cleansing. Not to mention the extreme military overreactions recently. The government policy of revenge. Government backed, supported and protected fundamentalists prepared to kill in their gods name. Did you really think the world was going to let you get away with it? We wont and israel is going the same way South Africa did. Bye bye nasty apartheid rogue state. Singer is, without doubt, the most boring contributor to the Forum.
Every week almost, he presents another tedious rant which tries to rewrite history, which tries to justify the existence of Israel, and its never-ending brutality and barbarism against the Palestinians. With his warped lawyer's mind and his obsession with promoting the bizarre Jewish cause, he dreams up this tack, or that, while, never once, does he admit to any wrongdoing by the murdering, religious fanatics that he supports so enthusiastically. People argue with him but he just sings his discordant, moronic one note song, one of outstanding mediocrity, and ignores all those who disagree with him. Isn't it time he took a sabbatical? David I do not need to provide references, you are not the school teacher.
There is plenty of evidence of the nation/country of Palestine, whether the written word and more importantly on plenty of genuine maps, just Google "Maps of Palestine" to see the evidence. Additionally, the Russian entry into Syria has just guaranteed "the Greater Israel" plan has just gone out the window, how sad, too bad and thank our lucky stars that monster has gone awry. Zionists, the neocons in the U.S. congress, and the Israli government are floundering with no policy to deal with Putin, the only man with ethics in the whole sad ME saga, and about time to. Geoff of Perth,
I know there's a fair bit of evidence to show that Israel wants to destabilise its neighbours, but I'm not completely convinced the war in Syria is completely Israels doing, though it does follow a Neocon Plan. Did you see the news article I added in my previous comment where Bandar spoke about a new Syrian government that would be sponsored by the Saudis? One thing I am aware of is that if there is any truth to the Greater Israel project, then Israel are going to have to create or use an external enemy in order to justify any military action being in "defense" or Israel. Turning Syria into a hellhole haven for terrorists probably falls into this line of thinking. Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 8 October 2015 6:36:31 AM

#Armchair Critic
For your information the Balfour Declaration only had any binding legal effect when it was specifically referred to and incorporated into the terms of the League of Nations Mandate adopted unanimously by all 51 member States some five years later. #nicknamenick" What about Israel remaining Israel, Jordan remaining Jordan , and Israel and Jordan directly negotiate on how to divide up the piece of no man's land between them called the West Bank or Judea and Samaria - an area one twelfth the size of Tasmania. #mikk Anonymous Jew-haters like you need to crawl back under the rock from which you occasionally emerge. #David G I won't be taking a sabbatical. Maybe you should - or even better - stop reading my boring articles - which I note you never challenge or dispute in relation to the facts or the conclusions - using their publication to spew forth your Jew- hating vitriol. #Geoff Once again when challenged you fail to produce your sources - just pack your bags and decamp leaving the old issues unresolved whilst trying to raise new ones like your latest throwaway -"the Greater Israel" plan - unexplained and undefined. I have made it clear I don't play that kind of game. Put up or shut up on the issues you raised before you start raising further issues in the hope you will be let off the hook on those earlier issues. No response from you to your own bit of unsourced material from Philo confirming the Jews were indeed a nation living in Syria in Palestine in first century CE. That would have been a subject worth pursuing - but clearly you must now be really embarrassed at what you uncovered and apparently now regret having published. I am sure all the Jew-haters won't thank you for having posted it either. Having raised " Jordan is Palestine" all you can do is describe Arabs and Arab organisations such as Arafat, Abu Iyad and the PLO Covenant confirming the truth of this statement as "revisionist rubbish". Time for you to stop reading my articles too. Posted by david singer, Friday, 9 October 2015 5:52:24 PM

Dear David,
<<What about Israel remaining Israel, Jordan remaining Jordan , and Israel and Jordan directly negotiate on how to divide up the piece of no man's land between them called the West Bank or Judea and Samaria - an area one twelfth the size of Tasmania.>> Tasmanian devils are cute furry creatures, only their name is scary. The West Bank is not cute at all, it's from the devil, a cursed land which corrupts and eventually destroys anyone who owns it. Both the Israelis and Jordanians are good people, they do not deserve that curse! Posted by Yuyutsu, Friday, 9 October 2015 6:32:54 PM

Your god wont protect you from public opinion singer. Bye bye fascist theocratic state of israel. It is coming singer and you know it. You should be concentrating your efforts on trying to save your country from the evil, elitist, crazies that are dragging israel into the dust of history. Not seeking to assist the decline. That Abbas can stand before the assembly and 'miss speak' at length, and receive applause is just standard fare. At what point does anyone there actually question what has been said, other than observers such as yourself?
