By Andrew Glover, published 23/7/2014

The Racial Discrimination Act has more power to protect the powerful than the powerless, and that is a problem.

"Given that white Anglo-Saxon culture has done it’s darndest to wipe out Aboriginal people and culture for a significant part of the time they’ve cohabited Australia."
drab,
You're spot on with your assertion.

had a good laugh today. abc presenter talking about how stuck in their ways the Brits are (in a negative way). When it comes to holding on to the culture (Indigeneous) it is presented by the abc as something worthwhile. The left are totally blind to their own hypocrisy.

Forget s18 of RDA –

Law is clearly impotent in Australia unless a power interest group pushes for its implementation.

Just look to SBS and the numerous shows where vile racism and prejudice is aired constantly. For example the so-called “comedy” of Nazeem called “Fear of a Brown Planet” in which he makes non-stop racist rants and attacks on white people from how they dress to the kind of nose they have and he especially likes bashing the most vulnerable whites who have no power nor privellege [so-called ‘bogans’] by laughing at their levels of education, the accents, their poor look and missing teeth [Housoes and Bogan Hunters are other shows doing same].

If shows like this can air with support of the same pathetic elitist twits who likely are here against s18 RDA then what is the point?

If Tally actually spelled out a point I'd seek to show it enough respect to address it.

The "brits are stuck in their ways", runner?

That would be actionable under 18C, as it is a derogatory stereotype of the British people. That's racism. It could cause the British to be "offended, insulted, humiliated, and intimidated."

There are so many things wrong in this article I wouldn't waste my time pointing them out. Freedom of expression is an essential part of a democratic society and I am amazed that so many people seem hell-bent on censoring debate. You don't miss your water 'til the well runs dry and the road to hell is so often paved with good intentions. Gratuitous niceness is killing our country.
