Pope’s political power play in Palestine promises pandemonium : Comments
By David Singer, published 4/6/2014It apparently matters not that the Pope can ignore the Fundamental Agreement made by the Holy See with Israel when it suits the Pope to do so.

Falsely hosting world leaders to fix Israel's own problems is, of course, a joke.
Did ya hear the one about the Pope, the Ayatollah and the Chief Rabbi? Posted by plantagenet, Wednesday, 4 June 2014 9:30:06 AM

A personal predictable predilection for promulgating patent prehistoric propaganda!
Different music, same old Singer; and sung to the tune, "yes we have no bananas"; or, I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts, there they are standing in a row. Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head. Give them a twist, a flick of the wrist, that's what the showman said. [ Repeat.] Rhrosty. Posted by Rhrosty, Wednesday, 4 June 2014 9:37:41 AM

Yes Pete, they the three of them, were out fishing together, very early one summer Sunday morning.
Around 6 AM, the plain clothed Pope got out of the boat, walked across the water, and went to his church, returning a little over an hour. The Ayatollah, mumbled something about needing to pray every day; stepped out of the boat, walked across the water, returning in just over an hour. This was all too much for the Rabbi, who said, anything you pair of unprintable, unmentionables can do, so can I; stepped off the side of the boat and promptly sank like a stone. As he was coming up for the third time, the Pope turned to the Ayatollah, and said, Mate, do you think we should tell him, the sand bar is on the other side of the boat! Cheers, Rhrosty. Wow you are really stepping into blow your own foot off territory here singer. Just goes to show how desperate israel and its apologists are getting. Their friends and supporters are getting thinner on the ground every day.
singer in what way does abbass's comment "I’m willing to agree to a third party that would supervise the agreement, such as NATO forces, but I would not agree to having Jews among the NATO forces, or that there will live among us even a single Israeli on Palestinian land." profess hatred of jews? After all that has been done and considering how peacekeeping works it is no surprise or insult to not accept the current oppressors into a future peacekeeping force. He did not say no jews could live in Palestine he said no ISRAELIS. Which is just logical. If jews live in the future state of Palestine they will be Palestinian jews. Only someone living in israel can be considered an israeli. You lot better get you story straight. Are you jews or israelis? Posted by mikk, Wednesday, 4 June 2014 10:24:30 AM

Good one Rhrosty
The Chief Rabbi and the Pope are in a meeting in Rome. The Rabbi notices a fancy shmancy phone on a side table in the Pope's private chambers. "What's that phone for?" he asks. "It's my direct line to the Lord!" the Pope replies. The Rabbi is doubtful, but the Pope insists that he tries it out and, indeed, he is connected to the Lord and chats away with Him for a while. After he hangs up the Rabbi says. "Thank you very much. This is great! But listen, I want to pay for the charges I have used up." The Pope doesn't want to take the money, but finally gives in, checks the counter and says: Allright! The charge was 50,000 Lira.", which the Rabbi gladly pays. A couple of weeks later, the Pope is in Jerusalem on an official visit. In the Rabbi's chambers he sees the identical phone he has with a direct line to the Lord. The Pope asks if he could use it, because there were some urgent matters he needed to consult with Him. The Rabbi gladly hands him the phone and the Pope chats away. After he hangs up, he says: "Now I also want to pay for my charges on your phone." The Rabbi looks on the counter and says: "1 Shekel 50!" The Pope looks surprised: "Why so cheap!" The Rabbi smiles: "Local call." Pete Posted by plantagenet, Wednesday, 4 June 2014 11:11:13 AM

Israel's real friends understand that it will never have lasting peace or security until it comes to terms with its enemies. Semantic games and demonising its opponents will make it less secure. Istrael's drift towards hardline extremism is worrying. Read Guy Hallowes' piece on Mandela on today’s OLO. Compromise where necessary while standing firm on fundamental principles; renouncing violence; understanding your opponents' position; patience; humility; forgiveness and reconciliation. Without Mandela showing these qualities, South Africa could have descended into a bloodbath. Israel/Palestine still could, unless both sides grow up. The problem is not me. The problem is the following; "All had plunged into the political mire that constitutes the 130 years old Arab-Israel conflict believing they could resolve it - but ultimately discovered it was destined to become their political graveyard." Of course none of these current political leaders would have faced the ignominious failure that has befallen them - had the Arabs not rejected any of the following earlier opportunities afforded them - which the Jews accepted: 1. 1922 - 78% of Mandatory Palestine for the Arabs and 22% for the Jews 2. The 1936 Peel Commission recommendations 3. The 1947 United Nations Partition Plan 4. Doing nothing between 1948-1967 to create a third State in Mandatory Palestine with its capital in Jerusalem when not a single Jew lived in those areas after they all had been driven out by invading armies from six neighbouring Arab countries. 5. The offer made by Israel in 2000/1 6. The offer made by Israel in 2008 The Arabs are entitled to reject any offers that do not suit them - as are the Jews. But where has 92 years of rejection got the Arabs? It is a brave spirit who ventures into this conflict believing he can resolve it. The latest - "the two-state solution" - espoused by Obama, Kerry, the European Union and the Quartet - has proved an abject failure. My following proposal could well be next on the list of attempts to help resolve the conflict: Direct negotiations between Israel and Jordan conducted pursuant to: 1. The Mandate for Palestine and article 80 of the UN Charter 2. Security Council Resolution 242 3. The Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty 1994 It may fail - but what other alternative is left - short of further conflict? Posted by david singer, Friday, 6 June 2014 11:55:51 AM

You ask: "singer in what way does abbass's comment "I’m willing to agree to a third party that would supervise the agreement, such as NATO forces, but I would not agree to having Jews among the NATO forces, or that there will live among us even a single Israeli on Palestinian land." profess hatred of jews?" Abbas has made it clear 1. No Jews in NATO forces or any third party charged with supervising an agreement between Israel and the PLO 2. No Israeli - of whom 80% are Jews - living on Palestinian land. 3. The 350000 living in the West Bank will have to pack up and get out, No doubt their synagogues will be trashed as happened in Gaza in 2005 and Jerusalem between 1948-1967 Does that sound to you like he loves Jews? #Rhian Would that your words came true - but regrettably they won't. Abbas's refusal to recognise Israel as the nation State of the Jewish people says it all. Truth is the PLO has never accepted the verdict of the international community as expressed in the Mandate for Palestine that the Jews are entitled to reconstitute the Jewish National Home in Palestine without prejudice to the civil and religious rights of the existing non-Jewish communities. The PLO chooses to declare such international law as "null and void" Until they change this rejectionist stance - negotiations with the PLO are a waste of time. Their mates Hamas are no better. Whilst they claim that "that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgement Day" - negotiations with them are also a waste of time. One thing you can't criticise the PLO and Hamas for - they are being brutally frank and honest in their intentions - as Hitler was when he wrote Mein Kampf. My question is - why do people continue to support the PLO and Hamas - unless they too hate the Jews with as much venom as the PLO and Hamas? Posted by david singer, Friday, 6 June 2014 12:32:14 PM

What is wrong with you singer? Of course no israelis will live in palestine. Israelis only live in israel.
Whats wrong with having a few palestinian jews singer? The same as "arab israelis". The two state solution is dead thanks to "facts on the ground" and now israel is going to suffer the same fate as apartheid south africa. Settling the west bank will come to be seen as the folly that destroyed the zionist experiment and destroyed israel as an exclusive "home for the jews". Abbas wants no Jews living in "the State of Palestine" - period. He wants them all out - as happened when those living there were all driven out in 1948 - unable to return until 1967. How do you come to the conclusion that Israel is an " exclusive home for the Jews" when 20% of the population is Arab? Posted by david singer, Monday, 9 June 2014 6:23:29 PM

The Palestinian people are no more Arab than the Egyptians, Jordanians, Syrians, Lebanese or any other of the Semitic peoples of the mid east.
The only common link they have to The Saudi Arabians is religion. Do you really think perpetrating such a lie is going to work over the long term? David Israel was created as a Jewish homeland NOT a Jewish State. There is quite a difference you know and you must know you are propagandising a lie. Why the need for all these lies David? Your view is contradicted by this extract from the Peel Commission Report (pages 33 - 34) "This definition of the National Home {in the White Paper} has been sometimes taken to preclude the establishment of a Jewish State. But, though the phraseology was clearly intended to conciliate, as far as might be, Arab antagonism to the National Home, there is nothing in it to prohibit the ultimate establishment of a Jewish State, and Mr. Churchill himself has told us in evidence that no such prohibition was intended. This view was naturally shared by the Zionist Organisation, whose Executive, after examining the Statement of Policy, declared that “ the activities of the Zionist Organisation will be conducted in conformity with the policy therein set forth “. One reason why no public allusion to a State was made in 1922 was the same reason why no such allusion had been made in 1917. The National Home was still no more than an experiment. Some 16,000 Jews had entered Palestine in I920 and 1921. The Arab population was about 600,000. It would be a very long time, it seemed, before the Jews could become a majority in the country. Indeed, as late as 1926, a leading Zionist stated that there was ” still little prospect of the Arabs being overtaken in a numerical sense within a measurable period of time ”.* It was not till the great rise in the volume of Jewish immigration in the last few years, that the prospect of a Jewish State came within the horizon. In 1922 it lay far beyond it." Churchill's evidence clearly gives the lie to your false claims. Think again before making wild unsubstantiated comments without any evidence to support them.. So what happens when Palestinian Israelis overtake Jewish Israelis after the future mass exodus of Jewish Israelis? That will occur after oil from Saudi Arabia becomes irrelevant to the West.
Where are they to immigrate Russia? Or on boats to Europe and Australia? Christ you are so stupidly short sighted. Posted by imajulianutter, Wednesday, 11 June 2014 7:07:08 PM

#imajulianutter
After Saudi oil becomes irrelevant to the West the "Palestinian problem " will suddenly also become irrelevant. Arab Oil has perverted the moral fibre of the West who have been forced to play along with the false Arab narrative of the Jewish-Arab conflict to ensure the supply of oil to keep their own economies functioning. Maybe the bleeding hearts will turn their attention to the massive humanitarian problems in Syria, Iraq and Libya which completely overshadow the constant bleatings of concern for the creation of a second Arab State in former Palestine - where none has ever existed in recorded history. Are you going to apologise for your following comments? "David Israel was created as a Jewish homeland NOT a Jewish State. There is quite a difference you know and you must know you are propagandising a lie. Why the need for all these lies David?" It is the least you can do given the extract from the Peel Commission Report that I provided to you. Posted by david singer, Thursday, 12 June 2014 9:24:53 AM

Ahhh David at last we are getting you to start addressing the truth.
You are so right the UN didn't set up a Jewish State in Palestine, did it? It found it didn't have the authority to do so, and neither did the British did they? So now we have established those facts ie no one had any authority to divide Palestine and that you have endorsed those facts, tell me how did the state of Israel come into existence in the Arab dominated territory of Palestine without the self determination of all groups of Palestinians? Especially after all the UN efforts were directed to establishing a Palestinian State where minorities rights were respected? Now tell us all the truth. Espousing only part of a truth is far worse than being a simple liar. Posted by imajulianutter, Thursday, 12 June 2014 5:09:20 PM
