You have it wrong. The sermon to which you were referring was in 2013 well before Thorburn took up the chairmanship.

Secondly, expecting any candidate to give a complete chronicle of any organisation to which they belong is unheard of, and an utterly idiotic suggestion of yours. If he were the chairman of the hell's angels, it would be different.

At that point, Thornburn was the Chairman of Essendon. He was stood down because of his association with the church and a decade-old sermon.

1 Timothy 3: 8-13 (a text from 1611 king James bible) refers to the expected conduct and deportment of senior figures in the church which centuries ago only men were appointed to. Only a woke fwit would deliberately misread this as claiming that this applies only to men in the modern day.
