They need to keep the useful idiots like you and me at home thinking that Ukraine can change the situation on the ground shadowminister, that's the only way they can keep supplying weapons and keep the war going. If the decision-makers in Washington think it's a worthless cause and the people at home start protesting too much about the imposition of the war, (price of food, energy, etc.) then they're going to be constrained to be able to send more money and weapons.

This current counter-offensive in Izyum was possible because Russia dropped the ball and failed to reinforce many of the smaller villages with regular Russian forces. FYI, a large majority of troops are made up of Donetsk and Luhansk peoples militia, Wagner group, as well as Chechen and other battalions. The 3 senior Russian defense officials are currently over in the far east for the war games in Vostok.

After this counter-offensive has been mopped up, (pushing deep into Russian held territory will only result in them becoming encircled - which will result in heavy losses) Ukraine may not even possess the troop capacity to effectively conduct any more counter-offensives, but they will get more money and weapons from the west for making a show of it.

AC,

Your naivety and self-delusion are amusing. Ukraine is smashing its way through any defences the Russians can mount and have effectively cut Isyum off from supplies and reinforcements from the north and are likely to encircle the soldiers there.

In Kherson, the 25000 Russians there (many taken from Kharkiv) are trapped like rats against the Dnipro river and are retreating into an ever smaller pocket.

The Russians are getting smashed, their aircraft are getting shot down and the Ukranian drones are free to roam after the Russian air defenses are smashed by HARM missiles.

On top of this the Russian economy is winding down. Soon Western Secondary sanctions will cut the sale of Russian oil and the end will be near.

Yes, they need for you to believe this to keep the money and weapons flowing.
You march to the little drummer boy, what a good little schmuck.
Show me that these gains were consolidated in a weeks time.
There will be a lot of dead Ukrainian conscripts / territorial defense left uncollected and bloating up in the sun by next week, great job shadowminister.
I notice like a dumb parrot you didn't mention Russian gains in the Donbass, move along nothing to see here.

AC, please show mercy towards our Village Nazi, he is convinced by the propaganda that the Fatherland is scoring glorious victory after glorious victory against the Russians! He only hopes the Fuhrer doesn't dispatch him anytime soon, to the Eastern Front.

Hi Paul1405,

Well, Ukraine did launch a successful counter-offensive at the Izyum front - their first so far in the war, they did catch the Russians out a little, it will boost their morale.
Russia knew about the troop buildup their over the last few weeks, I'm not sure why they didn't reinforce those positions with regular units.

Troops from all over Russia are being pulled together and sent to Ukraine now, and reinforcements have been sent to Kupyansk.

If you look at the map here, you'll see they have just gotten themselves encircled, its a propaganda win nonetheless, but I'm not sure they will be able to hold the territory for too long.

Some of the info is sourced by the Rybar team.
I also 'follow' some of the Chechen activites on Twitter and I also 'follow' Dmitry Medvedev on Telegram though I don't really keep up with their posts.

This was a fairly good video yesterday, it gives a bit of info in regards to the West lying about global food crisis and all the grain shipped from Ukraine, 95% went to the EU, as well as some background info on the technicalities of the gas crisis.
Skip the daily war coverage and go to 30 minute mark.

Putin's condolences to King Charles III was fairly dignified.
No snidely jabs like one would expect from the West.
