ttbn,
Maybe if you provide a link to this "survey" in Australia by what appears to be a Canadian based company we could understand it better. As for opinions, my 16 year old granddaughter has no problem expressing her opinion on a whole range of subjects, from Old Farts on a forum to who should be running the country. No cancel culture with her, the wife is the same, so am I. Posted by Paul1405, Friday, 15 July 2022 6:01:12 AM

Perhaps you could provide a link to your 'Canadian' comment about questions put to Australians, smartarse.

I'm not surprised that some young Australians
would be hesitant to speak up in today's Australia. Especially Australians from a non-European ethnic background - who even today still can experience negativity and having to almost apologise for their presence, because they're not "Australian" enough. Ask any Chinese, Muslim, First Nations person or any other ethnic background individual. They will tell you of their personal experiences. Posted by Foxy, Friday, 15 July 2022 9:40:57 AM

Trust Foxy to turn it around to race: not mentioned in the survey. But, of course, racists and people obsessed with race just can't help themselves. It's a pity that she has the misfortune to be European and not some exotic race so that she could really get stuck in to moaning.
People have not been made wary of speaking their minds because of racism, real or imagined; they have been silenced by Leftist culture cancellors like Foxy. As an aside, Foxy doesn't appear to have had much contact with non-white Australians. She will, of course, deny that. Posted by ttbn, Friday, 15 July 2022 10:58:38 AM

Once again ttbn lets fly with personal attacks on me
Why? When the topic he's raised is about cancer culture and acceptance in Australia. Yet he attempts to shut me up and negate my own experiences by blaming me on racism? Well folks I guess that proves the point doesn't it - why young people would be scared to express opinions - particularly on social media with people like ttbn posting. In any case - he's obviously not spoken or experienced relationships with many non-European people. I have. Not only through my work, my studies, but through my involvement in many communities. BTW: Senator Mehreen Faruqi in her Sydney PEN's annual lecture also raised this subject and issue. Perhaps ttbn - should get out more? Posted by Foxy, Friday, 15 July 2022 11:41:07 AM

excuse my typo. I meant to type - cancel culture -
although I was thinking of ttbn - and ended up referring to cancer instead. A natural assumption to do! Posted by Foxy, Friday, 15 July 2022 11:43:51 AM

"77% of Gen Z"
I wouldn't necessarily say the cancel culture is working as much as its simply a consequence of the indoctrination agendas. You see if you have a teenage kid now, they are much more likely to have friends that identify as 'they' or 'them' and expect their friends and their parents to abide by the way they see things. My friends teenage daughter recently made a big deal with her mum about the fact that her friend identifies as 'they' or 'them'. Started some big argument or something, for calling them girls or 'her' or something... I like to keep things simple I think of male, female and 'freaks'. It's not my job to try and guess your chosen gender. I recognise biological gender - something assigned at birth which none of us have control over. No-one on the planet got to choose their own gender. Those that identify as something different that what they got at birth are all freaks People who identify as 'they' or 'them' on merit must be split personality - therefore exhibiting mental issues. I don't see how its my job to assimilate into anyone else's mental issues I've got enough regular problems of my own without having to cater to their twisted mental problems They can identify as a cassowary for all I care But that doesn't mean I'll recognise them as being a cassowary. I've said it before, some bloke might decide hes a woman and wear a dress But what if I don't see a woman, and instead simply see a dude in a dress? Not my fault. Foxy,
Did you see your name on my last post? No, you didn't, because I was talking about you, not to you, which is a total waste of time. You have no need to read anything you don't like, certainly if it is not addressed to you. Perhaps you have a masochist streak. AC Cancel Culture does indoctrinate - in schools, universities, social media, and mainstream media. It's how they work. Their vileness is not in the air like Covid. ttbn,
You did mention my name several times - that's why I reacted. And I don't need your permission for what I do or do not read and when you mention people by name - they usually will re-act to your slurs. Even awesome, polite people, such as myself. Posted by Foxy, Friday, 15 July 2022 3:35:05 PM

ttbn: Insulting people in the third person is just as bad as insulting them directly. Actually it's worse, because it's very patronising. And you did write Foxy's name, twice.

Yeah, look our leaders on the Russia situation. - Acting like kids in kindergarten 'Let's cancel Russia from our meetings like they don't exist, - We don't want to talk to them or allow them to share their point of view on things - But we'll complain about them everyday and blame them for everything, that's fine' Posted by Armchair Critic, Friday, 15 July 2022 7:23:17 PM

Yes. Pretty stupid to get ourselves on Russia's 'hostile country' list when they haven't done a thing against us. We have enough trouble with the CCP; we don’t need to get offside with their main ally. Nor should we ge giving aid to Ukraine when we don’t have enough equipment to defend ourselves. Ukraine is 13 thousand or so miles away with no ties to us. While what is happening to civilians in Ukraine is awful, their government stinks: they had no qualms about setting a battalion on Ukrainians of Russian ethnicity, and recently lionised a Ukraine member of a German SS police unit he commanded which murdered 100,000 Poles during WW11, and wrote that all Gypsies and and Jews were to be treated the same way. While Putin might not be a nice man, his comment about attacking Ukraine to take on 'Nazis' might have had some substance. It's a pity that ignorance of history often makes people back the wrong side. Posted by ttbn, Friday, 15 July 2022 8:12:38 PM

While Cancel Culture bullies continue trying to close down free speech in this country, and deny surveys that report that they are doing it, in the UK a court has decided for a woman whose employer sacked her for saying that biological sex cannot be changed.
The woman in question said, "We have had enough of being sidelined in language, law and public places. This judgement is further evidence that the tide is turning". The Attorney-General, Suella Braverman, said, "We need to get rid of all this Woke rubbish and get back to a country where describing a man and a woman in terms of biology does not mean that you are going to lose your job". The problem is that the Woke are in charge. Where does that leave those of us who have already woken up, or never went to sleep in the first place? There is no real official opposition to the nonsense. Morrison finished off Turnbull’s job of turning the Liberal party sharply to the left. Morrison’s contribution didn’t stop with his left-wing zero emissions rubbish; he ran all sorts of Labor policies. Sadly, Dutton, now holidaying with the kiddies, looks to be shaping up to be as big a disappointment as is Perrottet, the 'conservative' supposed to tidy up after that silly woman. I read an article yesterday ('Incoherence is destroying the Liberals') that presents a sorry future, of lack of future, for conservatism in Australia. The author, a conservative himself, writes that the 'Australian Right' has been reduced to "baying at the moon", while the Left go about "reshaping the country in their own image". Traditional conservatism of the kind found in the West is now found only in places like Hungary and Japan; it is effectively dead as a viable concern". The Australian neo-liberal project (Turnbull, Morrison) was an exercise in "short-sightedness and stupidity"; it has been a "self-undermining political project". The carte blanche neo-liberal approach to immigration has been a huge mistake. US studies show that a diverse immigration intake pushes a conservative country leftward. The author ends with the warning that unless "significant social reforms" are made there is no real future for conservatism in Australia nor, possibly, for Australia as an outpost of Western Civilisation at all. The USSR was a blood-stained regime In which millions were murdered as a daily routine Might is Right was their slogan of choice Dissenting cries were not given a voice History has written of the many disposed The frozen infernos have now been exposed Putin and Stalin are two of a kind Yet some in the West to this are still blind Putin like Stalin will take what he wants He will kill and destroy those who fight in response The world can't allow this rampage of terror Not protecting Ukraine would be a huge error First the Ukraine, then Romania Followed by Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania Do we want the USSR re-instated Ruling Eastern Europe unabated? The world must unite and be fully aware That this is a battle that we all need to share Putin must be stopped in his tracks Otherwise no sovereign nation can truly relax. A UKRAINIAN LULLABY
My beautiful child go ahead and cry Mama will calm you with a lullaby But even a kiss on both your cheeks Won't stop the bombs falling in our streets Papa's out fighting for our liberty Doing his best so we can stay free To speak our own language on shore and sea And force the invaders to let us be Your parents want you to be proud And grow up Ukrainian and not cowed The invaders as brothers we won't tolerate When their bombs, tanks, and missiles try us to negate Their invasion of our precious land Is something those people don't understand That we'll fight them with our very last breath Even if it means our nation's death We'd rather all die in liberty Then go down enslaved in history Parasites like them cannot be allowed to win Our Ukrainian people will never give in! Those on the far right calling themselves conservatives often confuse their right to free speech with them being hateful bigoted racists, wanting to exercise a supposed right to insight hate towards others they disagree with in society.

A crude attempt at cancelling can be the only reason for posting an irrelevant rant on Churchill fighting everyone everywhere - twice, in two entirely different threads.
Modern Cancel Culture is the same as it was 400 years ago, the one difference between the modern baying mob and the witch hunters and burners of old, is that the same brutal and permanent method of cancelling is not available now. But who knows what the future holds, as the hysteria of the weather warriors increases, and they face more resistance. If you think that we are too sophisticated and enlightened to go back 3 or 4 hundred years, be aware that people back then thought the same things about themselves as we do now. In another 400 years, if history doesn't continue to cancelled as it is being cancelled at the moment, people will look back in disbelief at today's behaviour. Today at 2.30pm - Sunday 17th July 2022 there is to be:
A GALA CHARITY CONCERT FOR UKRAINE - at the Palais Theatre, St Kilda, Melbourne. It will be an Extravaganza of Ukrainian, Polish, Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian fold dance, music, song and choral performances, including the famous, fabulous, "Lost Clog," (Pamesta Klumpe). Tickets are available from Ticketmaster. All proceeds will be donated to the "Ukraine Crisis Appeal." Everyone is warmly invited to attend. There are people in this country who refuse to be silenced on the invasion of Ukraine issue. Including close to 40,000 Ukrainians living in Australia. People and their families who have experienced life under the Soviet Regime know what that means - and they just like Winston Churchill knew - that liberty is preferred to the alternative - and it is indeed worth fighting for! Anyone who does not understand that - and tries to silence all those voices - is not worthy of any attention! Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 17 July 2022 10:07:38 AM

I didn't mention the desperate shouting of what Churchill might or might not have said.
The occasional upper case word is acceptable for emphasis in lieu of italics that we don’t have access to on OLO. But about 70 words, one after the other, all jammed in a tight little column. Dear oh dear. Churchill, no matter what he said or didn’t say (so much of what famous people were alleged to have said has been proved wrong: not quite right, or said by a different person), he didn't shout; his perfectly enunciated rumble was more than adequate. And something he wrote in calm, lower case, might be of interest to the poster and others among the chattering class that tries to cancel ideas the don’t like by echoing people calling themselves, or thinking of themselves as "experts". Winston Churchill wrote, ‘Nothing would be more fatal than for the government of states to get into the hands of the experts. Expert knowledge is limited knowledge: and the unlimited ignorance of the plain man who only knows what hurts, is a safer guide than any vigorous direction of a specialised character.’ Posted by ttbn, Sunday, 17 July 2022 10:24:02 AM

"We shall fight on the beaches," is a very famous speech
delivered by British Prime Minister Winston S. Churchill to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom on 4th June 1940. This speech is available (in capital letter) , on the web. Any attempt to deny or try to denigrate this speech is not only the height of ignorance but is shameful and is another attempt and example of "cancel culture," on this forum! Shameful! They are trying to organise a 750 bln Marshall plan to rebuild Ukraine, but its a scam, the US never donated a cent to rebuild any other country it destroyed.
- Please Send Money to Klaus Schwab - It'll go through the Bank of International Settlements Same as they did with all the Nazi gold Why even bother? the war on human beings is already well underway. I don't begrudge Ukrainians wanting to give if they choose to but stirring up everyone's anger to justify a continuation of the war is unconscionable. I told you all this entire thing is engineered. Its an engineered global economic collapse. Why else do you think they are forcing farmers to kill off 50% of their livestock? It's all by design, a war on people to destroy businesses destroy livelihoods and reshape the global order of things into the hands of the elites. Its a war against all of us by design. They will just keep killing us and our economies with Covid till the jobs done. BTW, Zelensky's worth 1.3 Billion and owns a US$35 million dollar house in Florida. - Not to mention Ukraine is the most corrupt place in Europe, their corrupt military even sold Russia a French donated Ceasar MLRS for 120k, (worth 7 million) And not to mention, which parts do they plan on rebuilding? All the parts that have been destroyed, Russia has taken, and the Russian speaking people who live there will vote to become a part of Russia. They don't want to be a part of a Ukraine that tried to ban their language. Posted by Armchair Critic, Sunday, 17 July 2022 8:37:42 PM

The people you want to look at are Klaus Schwab founder of the WEF, who's father Eugene was the head of one of the leading Nazi Defense contractors Escher-Wyss during the Nazi Regime. He ran it so well the Nazi party awarded the Escher-Wyss Ravensburg branch the title of “National Socialist Model Company”.
He's the one who's been bragging about 'penetrating the cabinets' (governments of the world) http://youtu.be/_2IP_LQ4A6A Look at all the so-called leaders of our 'sovereign nations' on this list - all Klaus Schwabs minions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Global_Leaders Why do you think IG Farben never got bombed in WW2 and they moved all the NAZI scientists to the US under Operation Paperclip? Where do you think all the worlds technology over the last 75 years came from? Then you want to look at Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, who founded the Bilderberg group in 1954. Remember I showed you Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars? READ IT! READ THEIR PLANS AND WHAT THEY THINK OF US! All the royals went to Bilderberg from Day 1. http://novelww.com/truyen/267983683/chap/811248-1063207998/ Look up Kolomoisky, how he's the man behind Zelensky. It was all a plan to poke the Russian bear. What do you think they were doing in the 46 Ukrainian biolabs. Then also look at Henry Kissinger, the royals, the bankers and all the rest of them. - Great Reset - all planned. http://reparti.free.fr/schwab2020.pdf Posted by Armchair Critic, Sunday, 17 July 2022 9:06:37 PM

Dutton is back, talking about having to have a full time security detail because of the online abuse he is receiving.
He says that, "There are a lot of people out there in the modern age who live through social media and believe what they read online - and it’s a less safe place.” Even today, if I have a beef with a politician, I write to them directly, giving my name and address. I used to get 100% responses, but not many these days, thanks to the changes in society. Still, I can express my opinions directly, and something might stick. What do you think is going to happen when the 'separatist' regions vote to become a part of Russia
(which should be their right under UN right of self determination - but the UN and West only recognises it when it suits their goals) At this point Ukraine won't be attacking separatist regions anymore. They will be attacking Russian citizens in Russian territory, and you might just find that Putin will be far less patient than what they've been so far. They will have much greater justification to unleash ALL HELL upon Ukraine, and the West for openly attacking Russian territory. I told you all months ago at the start. The correct position was to support peace and a negotiated settlement. If they'd had've done that, this thing would've been over by now, with Russia taking less territory. And if they had've kept to their terms of the Minsk agreements, supported by the UN, none of this would've happened at all. The West overthrew the country and wanted to then pick a fight. When Russia takes the Donbass, they will again try to negotiate for peace, but the west will reject it. It seems the West is intent on picking a much bigger fight with Russia, but none of those Westerners who want the war to continue are standing in front of Russian artillery or Krasukha rockets, except maybe the NAZI Azov brigate. What a sad and ugly tragedy the whole thing is. War is ugly business. Husbands, Brothers, Sons, Single mums, Wives, Kids, Elderly. All needless senseless deaths engineered by the West. Did you hear about how the Ukrainians put their forces in a nursing home? The Ukrainians decided to hole up in one and make its elderly bedridden residents a military target. Don't move them away to safety, NO Instead, use them as human shields. That's the mindset of those who you support Foxy. http://www.voanews.com/a/un-russia-and-ukraine-share-blame-for-nursing-home-attack-/6652481.html "Two weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine in February, Russian forces assaulted a nursing home in the eastern region of Luhansk. The more money they make from Ukrainian concert ticket sales Foxy,
The longer this war will go on for and more amount of innocent people will die. - Just exactly what the West (our side) wants. When will you understand that our side are the baddies. "Dutton is back" I hadn't noticed. He wants "full time security", well doesn't mind spending taxpayer dosh for his own benefit. If he wants 24/7 security the Liberal Party can pay for it. There hasn't been an Opposition Leader shot since Arthur Calwell in 1966, when a right wing nutter took a shot at him at Mosmen Town Hall during the election campaign of that year.

Armchair Critic,
I do not agree with your take and opinion regarding Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Putin must be held responsible for his actions. His invasion is a gross violation of international law including the UN Charter. I am proud that Australia strongly supports Ukraine sovereignty and territorial integrity and that it calls on Putin to immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine territory. Apparently what I am wishing for is totally different from what you are wishing for - and in this case I could never support your opinion. To give in to bullies has rotten consequences. Freedom is worth fighting for. Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 19 July 2022 10:07:16 AM

Armchair Critic,
BTW: I have donated money to the Ukraine Crisis Fund that's run by Rotary Australia and the Australian Ukrainian Organisations in Australia. I felt obliged to do so. There's also many other people who have done the same thing all over the world, not only in Australia. There's people in an aged care facility knitting teddy-bears for kids in Ukraine - to help. So people everywhere see and understand the plight of the Ukrainians. Very disappointing that you don't. Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 19 July 2022 3:41:57 PM

Cancel culture is a myth. There's two things going on here
1 - freedom of speech. If you're a racist, I can't stop it, but I can tell you what I think 2 - capitalism. If someone expresses views I oppose strongly, I may decide to take my business elsewhere None of that is new, really. It's just that the internet allows people to express and share their views.
