The results of the 2021 Census were recently released and the usual interpretation, reinterpretation and data dredging is proceeding apace.

I've read people crowing that even less folk identify as Christian with others crowing that Christianity remains by the far the largest religion. Some say that those who identify as Christian are the core believers while still others say that those ticking the Christian box don't really believe it.

Lost in the release was a quiet announcement from the ABS....

http://www.abs.gov.au/media-centre/media-statements/abs-statement-2021-census-non-binary-sex-count

People were asked their sex - male, female, non-binary. The non-binary response is to be suppressed.

Now colour me sceptical but I'm pretty sure that had the numbers identifying as non-binary been anything like what that community claims them to be, then the numbers would have been released and 4-Corners would already be scheduling several episodes to discuss it. Obviously the numbers identifying as non-binary weren't what that crowd hoped and therefore the result had to be squashed.

The ABS says it will do further 'research', "in consultation with key stakeholders in the LGBTQI+ community" and will release the numbers 'later'. Translation - we'll work out how to fudge the result and release the approved answers after the LGBTQI_WTF community give us permission to do so.

In 1937, the Russian census found that the country had around 10 million fewer people than anticipated. (Hint: they'd died in the Holodomor and the Great Purges). The leadership of the censor bureau were arrested and disappeared into Siberia, never to be heard of again. The new censors ran a new census in 1939 and came up with the 'right' answers.

We don't yet send those who come to the wrong conclusions to our hinterland, although most now know such an error is dangerous to one's career.

Part of the problem navigating the facts in the current world, is working out what you're not being told and why it's being hidden. In this case, the reasons are easy to discern. But often that isn't the case.

I agree. Had the non-binary numbers been at all significant, we would have heard about nothing else.

There is probably no questioning the massive drop in the number of people identifying as Christian. It coincides with a massive spike in the number of people with mental health issues.

Other religions are on the rise: Hinduism, Islam, Climate Hysteria, Wokeness.

Indy,
Australia has long been a no religion nation. It will never be Hindu or Muslim.

Indians, Arabs etc. have brought their religions with them; and those two religions are increasing here, while Christianity is dying, although still the main faith. Given the mania for mass immigration, and the fact that it is only people from Third World countries who are prepared to come here and do work that Australians refuse to do, there will be even bigger rises in 'Eastern' religions. There will be little competition from Christianity in post-Christian Australia.

We must remember that a lot of the Indian migrants are Christians and come from a Portuguese or British background.
