Is any one else wondering what we got with Albanese?

Presently it looks like instead of a prime minister we got a prime tourist.
Perhaps he wants to get all his touring in quickly, before most wake up to what a dill he is, & chuck him out.

Albo and his closest are certainly overdoing the travel. Even the media is talking about it. A couple of the trips in our region, OK; but not to a NATO get together when we are not in NATO, for the obvious reason of not being in the North Atlantic.

I see that Albo is seeking advise on going Ukraine, for heaven's sake! Of course he should not be going to a country 13,000 kilometres away from us, with no cultural, trade or others connections. We are already on Russia's 'hostile country list' thanks to the #metoo Morrison government. Russia has done nothing to us, and we have enough of an enemy in the Chinese Communist Party without looking for more enemies.

Hasbeen,

It's very obvious to many people - what we've got with
our newly elected PM and his government.

Many of us have already received the message both
domestically and internationally that there is a
change in government - changes in policy and changes in
our engagement with the world on issues. The QUAD
meeting that the PM had with US, India, and Japan recently
was an obvious success - and it went down well internationally.

It also indicated how the government will take on regional
policy - especially with China's assertiveness.
It looks like there will be a re-set with the Pacific Islands,
with Indonesia, with France, and the list goes on. Good
for us, good for business and investment - good all round.

Our new government looks like it wants a more gentler type of
politics. Gentle - but firm and strong. If our PM can succeed
in raising the tone of politics both domestically and
internationally - it will be very welcome to many voters.

Hasbeen,

Regarding a visit to the Ukraine?

Our PM has said that he will think about visiting Kyiv,
as long as the visit won't put members of his party in
danger. He has also made it clear that of course our
own immediate region will remain his absolute priority.

However, he considers a visit to Ukraine as being important.
In the case of Australia - it's not just about moral
support and solidarity but about actually material support
as well - the lethal aid and other assistance that's coming.

For Australia it is a vital investment. The PM has stated
that we have a tradition of standing up to coercion and
bullying behaviour in the world - so it is important to stand
up for Ukraine and provide more assistance.

At all times, vigilance is the price of liberty. We must
remain vigilant because while it might be someone else
today, it could be us down the road in years from now.
The measure of our society over history is our fidelity to our
principles.

We must remind our people to remain faithful to those
principles or otherwise our society, like so many in the past,
will be swept on the ash heap of history.

Greg Sheridan, that Murdoch right wing hack and no friend of the Labor government, said on Insiders yesterday of Albanese that:

"All the travel he has done since becoming prime minister has been important and I hope there isn't any foolish provincial backlash against it."

Does that make Hasbeen our resident provincial fool?

It would appear so.

Dear Hasbeen,

«Presently it looks like instead of a prime minister we got a prime tourist.»

Very well - give him all the travel he ever dreamed of, give him wine, give him beautiful women (or handsome youthful men if he prefers), give him songs and dances, clothes and gems, gold and jewelry, games and amusements, give him psychedelic drugs even: the more a politician is busy with his personal luxurious indulgences, the less time s/he has to harass us!

I'm pretty sure I made fun of him a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah here it is...
http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=9842&page=0#335196

'Albo seems like the kind of kid who got his mum to cut the crusts off his sandwiches in his packed school lunch.
I wonder if he can bowl a cricket ball better then Johnny Howard?
Next election lets try to set the bar a little lower.
Par for the course these days...'

And I could've said a lot worse.
Ya know the thing about it it I'm just a regular Joe nobody,
I can say those kinds of things...

But what I saw today from the leaders at the G7 making jokes about Putin.
Well I'd never say that stuff if I was in that kind of leadership position.
And no matter what you think of him, to his credit...
Putin himself has never and probably would never say those kinds of things about other leaders.

Does Putin make jokes about Boris Johnsons hair or suggest he may have poor personal hygiene?
Does he make fun of Biden pooping his pants or farting in the Queens presence?
Does he point out that Ursula Von Der Leyen is unelected by anyone?
Does he say that Justin Trudeau has the mannerisms of a gay man or that his father was racist against blacks?
Does he call Sholtz 'Liver Sausage'

No.

Those lot acted like schoolchildren themselves.
Maybe Putin's living in Boris Johnsons head rent free.

Hey indyvidual,
"Thus far Albo's been talking sense, let's hope he doesn't do an Abbott or Rudd !"

I do have to admit he's doing better than expected.
Not sure how long that will last though.

I have the feeling Albo might just surprise us. He is at the least talking way more common sense than we've heard from all the PMs since the big Goaf started the rot !
I had no time for Albo as opposition leader but I must admit he sounds like he's way above the academic Labor mentality of his cabinet !
He may need to run it all himself.

All pollies are wonderful until they try to do something. The more they try to do, the more they are disliked, although Hawke was an exception. I am happier when pms don't think they know it all. I only worry about Albo's support for Hydrogen and renewable energy.

The travel by politicians who expect the rest of us to stay at home, work from home, use Skype and so on in the name of climate change and Covid, is hypocritical, yes. But it is also an admission that climate change and Covid hysteria is all BS. Politicians are all BS.

Had Morrison won, he'd have done every one of these trips as well. I guess we had 10 years of petty sniping from the left against the Libs. We probably should expect similar petty sniping from the right for the next 3 years.

Scott Morrison and co, had plenty of time to do what
Anthony Albanese and co are currently doing but they
didn't. They lost out in so many ways. We now have
a new government with new approaches - and things are
looking good!

Hi Foxy, I totally agree with what you have said. However, please remember Morrison did make an important trip O/S to Hawaii during the bushfires where he didn't hold a host, and sipped on pina coladas with his bible bashing mate. Oh yes while he was there Morrison did hold cabinet meetings with Jen and the Girls...."First item on the agenda, this girly thing...Jan, Girls, Preacher Bob, anything to say?"

Back at home Morrison's glove puppet Birmingham mad a phone call to the Chinese Minister for Trade, but unfortunately it went to "message bank" and Glove Puppet left a message; "Please, please, call me, I love you", unfortunately the Chinese Minister didn't call back.

Think 'empty vessels'. There is an old adage - not popular these days like all things from a saner era - that used to remind us that 'empty vessels make the most noise'. We have three or four empty vessels here who will keep making unnecessary noise as long as they get people rising to the bait.

It's the same old mantra whenever there's a new Labor PM elected and travels overseas- the losers say "we don't want a tourist for a Prime Minister" while forgetting it's what all new PMs traditionally do.

Morrison made 29 overseas trips to 18 countries as PM while Abbott spent more on domestic travel in 2016 than his three predecessors combined on "official business" since the Gold Pass scheme was abolished by Turnbull.

It seems he's been busy repairing damaged relationships and strengthening old ones while Wong is shoring up important support in the Pacific on our behalf.

Travel to Ukraine is no big deal considering he will already be in Europe and maybe we don't have significant financial ties with that country. I wonder if that $41million shipment of coal has reached it's destination yet?

Considering there is yet to be a Budget or even a Parliamentary sitting what exactly should he be doing? The bedwetters on Sky think he should have already lowered the cost of living and reversed inflation.

Maybe they would be happier if he whipped up a few curries or built a chook shed or two for the cameras or wasted millions more on setting up Kirribilli as a permanent residence?

Here's someone who has travelled further than Albo - right off planet in fact:

"The consequences of climate change can exacerbate the risk of sexual & gender-based violence, especially those facing intersecting forms of discrimination including Indigenous women & girls". Tweeted by Australia's Ambassador for Women and Girls, Morrison government appointee Christine Clarke.

They don’t come any nuttier than that.

Maybe the way to stop petty sniping at the leadership when your side is in power is to avoid petty sniping at the leadership when the other side is in power.

But alas....

As I recall it, when Morrison was PM there was a constant stream of attacks on the then-opposition on forums like this and in some parts of the media but strangely almost no arguments in defence of the government itself.

Albo needs to be more careful where he goes, and who he is seen with. A selfie with the president of the most corrupt country (Ukraine) on earth is a very bad look.

President Zelenskyy, with whom Albo was virtuously posing for a photo, was quite OK with his Azov battalion's 8 year civil war against fellow Ukrainians of Russian descent.

President Zelenskyy was OK with Ukraine's striking of a stamp commemorating the life of Ukrainian killer, Roman Szuchewycz who, during WW2, as a captain in the German Schutzmannschaft police battalion, oversaw the liquidation of 100,000 Poles.

The lefty media hasn't had anything to say about these things of course, nor about any of Ukraine’s glaring faults.

So, good old know-nothing Albo, ploughs in to pose with a thug, and hands over even more military equipment that we haven't got enough of to defend ourselves.

When he does spend his first full day in Australia, Albo talks crap about weather conditions that that have always prevailed here as being 'caused by climate change'. The science 'tells us so' he says. Science can't talk. It is liars and activists who whispering in Albo's ear. There are now many actual scientists who are saying the opposite to what Albo wants to hear to enhance his economy-killing socialist agenda.
