Hi AC,
The propaganda war is interesting. So Ukraine has been tricked into fighting a proxy war for Nato and the US? Reminds me of Nazi propaganda claiming that the opposing forces were fighting a proxy war for the Jews. The reason for that line of propaganda is to excuse the dismal performance of the Russian army. No, they aren't fighting Nato and the US. They are fighting a Ukrainian army partially equipped with western military hardware. Putin does not want to look weak to Russians, hence the propaganda about the west scheming against him and how Russia could annihilate her enemies in a few minutes if she wanted to. Perhaps the Russian's really do believe they are conducting a humanitarian war in Ukraine by sparing the use of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, and instead using those well accepted humanitarian weapons of war, namely murder, rape, torture, looting, and the destruction of civilian housing and infrastructure. How long do you think the Russians will last in Ukraine? The 777s are making a big difference I believe. Posted by Fester, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 10:10:26 PM

I think they can maybe take and hold what was Russian-speaking territory, maybe east of Kharkiv down to Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia.
I think they will be pushing their luck to occupy and hold cities west of there though. It will take them some time though, and to try and take more would be costly, because they wont have the support of any citizens further west. It will be fairly costly just to get that far I think. Obviously Ukrainians in the West want to be their own independent country, and want to be a part of the EU and probably NATO.
Russian speaking eastern citizens would probably rather be aligned with Russia. It would be hard to hold and occupy areas where even the people there don't want you. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 18 May 2022 9:04:47 PM

People who think this is all about an attack on Ukraine and don't understand that this ACTUALLY all about NATO and the US being a existential threat to Russia, don't seem to comprehend that Putin is actively preparing for nuclear war.

Putin's like "Yeah, righto fine- You just went from a country I wasn't planning on nuking, but now you're on the list too, congratulations"
He don't have to be a hardass about it, but you know for absolute certain he will now respond to the new situation by placing nukes in Kaliningrad.
Now it's about 120 seconds from launch to strike the UK instead of 202 seconds.
