I have never watched one of these 'debates' before. If this one was like those before it, they should not be called debates. This one was a question and answers session, the questioners being set up just like the Dorothy Dixes in parliament. A waste of time for the 100 "undecided" voters in the room and those watching. We learned we learned nothing new about either politician or their parties than we already knew.

Morrison said he is "blessed" (don't forget Jan and the girls) not to have a disabled child in his family, seems they are all in working order. The inference is those with a disabled child are NOT blessed. It must be God's will, the parents of such children must be sinners, and not God's chosen people Like the wonderful Morrison family! Children must be like vacuum cleaners, get one, if it don't work properly, take it back, get a "refund". We have a severely handicapped moko, he is loved and cherished as much as all the others in our extended family. His parents our nephew and niece have battled night and day, because of their sons disabilities, and they are many, but they wouldn't swap him for one second for all the girls in Morrisons clan.

individual,

I don't know about the PM making more sense but the
Sky News audience declared Albanese the winner.

ttbn,

I wish that I could have seen the debate for myself
instead of relying on other's interpretations. It
would have been interesting to hear both the questions
asked and the answers given first-hand.

There's quite a few issues that need answers. I think
that corruption is a bread-and-butter issue as it
does impact on people's daily lives.

When taxpayer money that should be prioritised for
things such as - healthcare, aged-care, education, welfare,
disability support, and building a climate resilient country
is either cut in funding or re-directed into the coffers of
fossil fuel companies or used for highly questionable
projects in marginal electorates - the voters are aware
they are missing out.

People do want a federal ICAC - and it is one I gather when
questioned in the debate about the Coalition's broken
promise the PM first tried to blame Labor but when that
didn't work - he had nothing new to say - and he changed the
subject.

It would have been interesting to watch.

Hi Paul,

I don't think the PM meant anything derogatory with his
"blessed," comment. I saw it on the news re-cap. I think
that he was trying to show empathy to how difficult it
must be for those parents who had children with disabilities.

Hi Foxy,

Maybe so, but then again Morrison does have some way out fudo Christian beliefs, which surface from time to time. The disabled don't want Morrisons condescending platitudes, they want meaningful assistance to give them the descent life all Australians expect. The patronising attitude towards our Pacific island friends, the years of cutting much need aid is now coming home to bit us. This attitude that Australia through aid has bought and paid for the people of the Islands, is typical whiteman good, blackman bad attitude.

Australia should be working towards a demilitarised Indo/Pacific, instead of taking a belligerent attitude and beefing up as we are now doing. Aggressive America has militarist stationed in over 150 countries, in our region they have bases and troops in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Australia. The Pacific Island nations should be rightly concerned, and not just about China, but about all those who seek to dominate the region to their own advantage.

Hi Paul,

I'm not sure about any feelings that our government
has about "superiority" towards the Solomon Islands.
I believe that we've helped them financially in the
past. And hopefully will continue to do so in the
future - and maintain good relations with them.

Former PM Kevin Rudd has warned us about China. And
the comments that Xi Jinping has made about Taiwan
being an "unshakeable commitment" and that he vowed
to take "resolute action to utterly defeat any attempt
toward "Taiwan independencw," is concerning. As is
the treatment of the protesters in Hong Kong.

I think our government has to navigate carefully with
China that's for sure - but I am grateful that we do
have the US as an ally. I feel that without the US
support we would be in serious military trouble in the
event of any conflict. Of course I wish China well
and that they go about their "business as usual," and
continue to trade with us. But in the meantime - I
would watch them closely.

Labor leader Anthony Albanese has tested positive
for COVID-19. He's announced the diagnosis tonight.
He says he plans to continue campaigning whilst
isolating at home for the next seven days.

What does that mean for all those who came in contact
with him - including the PM? Do they have to isolate
as well?

Goodness me.
