There are two views of this subject: The classic view which has no intrigue attached to it.
The following link from the Mildura Council protocol for identification of road damage and hierarchy of repair.

http://www.mildura.vic.gov.au/files/assets/public/document-resources/council/about-council/council-plans-amp-strategies/road-inspection-guidance-manual.pdf

Then there is the conspiratorial view of the nefarious use of camera technology for spying on individuals in their daily law abiding travels.

I think it is best practice to be aware of how camera surveillance is misused and what to do about it. It can be costly.
The camera technology used in the garbage truck instance is 5G IoT interfaced. Not only does this particular application stream live information to a central point in Council offices, it can also open up vulnerabilities which increase the likelihood of hackers implanting ransomware for example, which actually increase costs to ratepayers.
But that is an aside.

Camera technology is invasive to privacy, and my view is we need to be aware of its misuse.

Camera technology on private drones is an increasing invasion of privacy, and has little useful control over who operates them, and policing existing prohibition on flight paths.

You should be aware of these invasions and the ramifications.

When I was a kid we didn't need electronic surveillance, we had old Nellie at number 6. "That floozy in number 10, she's had two men callers this week, I tell you something going on in there...do you know Mr Smith's washing been on the line for three days, I think hubby's hitting the bottle again, poor Mrs Smith ...not that I mind anyone's business, I kept to myself, I wouldn't know what happens in this street, keep to myself, mums the word with me"

Dan,

It is always good talk about surveillance. Last night I read a piece indicating that the Liberal Party is going to come up with a Bill that will enable most aspects of our lives to be spied on. The Liberal Party! No details yet. Most of the serfs wouldn't be interested anyway. But, there is no doubt that Australia is rooted. So are Australians because they are simply not interested.

A classic issue with government spying "who watches the watchers".

Very concerning about the prospect of Liberal Party spying- but this isn't coming from them- it's what they think will lead to better law and order outcomes- but it won't- the essential reason in my view for the law and order issues is the division caused by multiculturalism- and the economic liberals (industrialists) are never going to undermine their cheap labour- and the Labor party isn't going to stop cheap labour either and back up the workers- because since Marcuse it's all about the minorities- Tabula Rasa- Blank Slatism

Now of course you will all be interested in your social credit score.
Put too much unrecyclable in the bin and you will lose 2 points.
Isn't that the system in China ? Wouldn't do that here, would they ?
No, but when you go to the service station to fill your car you find
the pump stops at half full !
Screen on pump says your social credit system has stopped the pump.
You have reached your 43% rate this month.

Camera technology:

Wearing a virtual pilot headset, I recently flew a high tech drone through a bunch of gum trees at 100klm an hour, flew it at that speed to a Kim high (1.000M) to watch the sunset over the town with perfectly transmitted video, descended it to 100 odd meters for a fly over the Main Street of town 3klm away, which gave me a perfect view of the stragglers in the street, and flew it back home to land at my feet.

Nothing is sacred.
