I'm very disappointed with Albo on the Barnaby Joyce issue.

Barnaby Joyce was one of the better MPs in the Howard era, as he dared to speak his mind. But when he took up the deputy position he became another lackey. His actions made me lose all political respect I had for him. Indeed most of that respect would be gone before his displaying poor understanding of the issues and his affair with a staffer.

Now at last he's regained the courage to speak the truth about our PM, who's pleasantly surprised me by demonstrating he's able to take criticism. Far from being a sign of weakness, it's the first sign of strength I've ever seen Scotty demonstrate!

I still think Albo would make a better PM, but on this issue he really should shut up!

Everything that's happened in the last 18mths could've been prevented.

I assume you're only talking about Morrison's COVID response - his record in other areas has been abysmal.

As for COVID, his tardiness and obfuscation in obtaining vaccines is well documented and the bold announcements that we are "at the front of the queue" simply didn't line up with the facts. He was big on announcements but small on meaningful action, as usual.

Those were not matters of hindsight but deliberate and selective decisions to ignore expert advice given at the time.

Likewise his response to Federal aged care and quarantine responsibilities fell very short (tragically) and he was happy let the States to do the heavy lifting, criticise them when things went wrong but also tried to take credit when things seemed to improve.
He was always against lockdowns - especially those in Aged Care, which are standard procedures for all contagious disease outbreaks.

The Jobkeeper initiative was based on the UK response and done in conjunction with and advice from the ACTU.

The Federal Cabinet was a good initiative at the beginning but in the end simply elevated the status of Premiers and we are now seeing the result of the eagerness to "let it rip" for Christmas. In the end we've been sacrificing the sick, poor and elderly for the sake of the economy and the current supply and distribution problems have shown you can't have a healthy economy unless you also have a healthy society.
The question really should be about what leadership has he really displayed?

Bananaby's offer to resign is just self-serving nonsense and intended to protect himself. The deputy PM role automatically goes to the leader of the Nationals and I doubt he would offer to resign from that role as well. His own track record is also one of lies and hypocrisy.

Compared to the fruity and mendacious Juliar, Morrison is stellar.

The complaints about Morrison's handling of the covid issue are almost exclusively left whingers with 20/20 hindsight nitpicking over every decision and have also praised Pandemic Dan in spite of his numerous cock ups.

The reality is that handling of covid in Aus has outperformed the rest of the world in respect to the number of deaths and the Aus economy is now performing well against nearly every metric.

The chief whinger is Ablo who has never managed anything in his life and aspires to take the top job.
