there are swinging voters who need to be influenced.
And success or failure may also depend on them.

yes, it's actually the swinging voters i.e. integrity-devoid opportunists who are the real power. They're not concerned about the state of the Nation, only what they can gain from it with the least effort & responsibility. Sad really !
