mhaze, I'm sure your budgie is smarter than you. At the end of WWII Britain's National Debt was a huge £27 billion, owed mostly to US private banks, it had little income and little prospect of repayment, the country was bankrupt. That's why Australia, Canada, NZ and others took so many Ten Pound Poms. We're you a TPP?

Just about every country in Europe recovered more swiftly than the UK, but then they weren't saddled with hard core socialism.

Paul,

Yes the UK owed money to the US. Just as they had done after WW1. But it was debt, not reparations. Reparations are something a defeated foe pays to a victor when the defeated foe caused, or is said to have caused, the conflict.

You used the term because in the addled back-blocks of your mind, it carries a negative connotation and you spend your life attaching negative connotations to anything USian. The needs of your ideology override the needs for historic truth.

mhaze, the US not only won the physical war, they also won the economic war as well. Britain was one of the big loosers of the economic war. The difference between the wars, after WWI Britain was in a economic position to meet debts through empire etc. After WWII it was in a bankrupt state, somewhat different. BTW the British Capatalist had hoped WWI would last until 1922, they were doing so well, most disapointed when it finished in 1918.

Paul,

Twist and turn, fudge and obfuscate all you want. But the fact is there were no reparations between Britain and the US after WW2. You shot your mouth off....just admit it.

"BTW the British Capatalist had hoped WWI would last until 1922"

More Marxist rubbish.

IM,

As I said in another thread, sometimes Pauliar's posts are so incoherent and nonsensical that it appears that he is high as a kite.
