Former de facto Prime Minister under Abbott, Peta Credlin has bucketed on the Andrews Labor government over the latest outbreak of Corona virus in Victoria. According to the 'Sky Channel' mouth piece (yesterday) maybe next time, "people won't be so quick to vote in an incompetent, hard-left tyrant and his team of D-grade ministers" as Victoria faces the prospect of a snap lockdown following further COVID-19 cases. A seven day lockdown has been imposed in the state as of midnight last.

If Credlin is going to throw mud or something more smelly, maybe she needs to be reminded of what has taken place to instigate this lockdown in Victoria. The first case was a person returning to the state, from hotel quanentean in South Australia, a Liberal controlled state. Despite a February report that highlighted the fact that unsatisfactory air conditioning in hotels was a spreader of Covid. The SA Marshall government failed to act, and this month a person contracted the virus in a hotel on their watch, then transported it to Victoria. Had the Morrison government acted on dedicated, purpose built quanentean facilities in the states, instead of buck passing their responabilities, maybe Victoria would not be in this situation. If the Morrison governments vaccine roll-out had gone to plan, instead of being a complete cock up of over promising and under delivering, maybe Victoria and the rest of Australia would be in a lot better position of control. All I can say is Ms Credlin should look at the facts instead of trying to score cheap political points.

Hi Paul,

A "Craven spin" that failed!

Credlin should stop listening to her News
Corp colleagues. Victorian lockdowns have
been praised in the US and even UK PM
Boris Johnson has recently announced a new
tough lockdown in the UK.

Seven days is not a long time - and as a
Victorian - I for one am grateful for
our state government in keeping us safe.

Hi Foxy,

Good luck with the lockdown. Great news today, only 4 cases reported from a high testing number of 47k, I was expecting 24 or more. Still early days and lets keep the fingers crossed. I'm booked in for the jab next Friday. Firstly I was given a date 23rd June. After an e-mail to the local (Liberal) member, surprise, surprise, a phone call today and they knocked about 3 weeks off the date, does to complain. "T" wants to have the Pfizer vaccs, at 71 will need a doctors certificate.

Criticism of the Andrews government during second wave, for poor track and trace etc was warranted. This time Credlin's criticism is out of order, in fact if she wants to "have a go" then Labor would be fully entitled to criticise the concervatives for their lack of action on several fronts.

The Tory, Bug Ridden Boris, leaves me unconvinced he didn't say; "I would rather see bodies piled in the streets, that impose a lockdown." Shows the Tories value money much higher than human life (except their own of course).

Hi Paul,

With Victoria getting more covid cases - the lockdown
of seven days makes sense.

We're going next week to ask our GP for a vaccine
referral. I think it's best to not wait too long
the way things are going.

Hi Foxy,

Good idea with the situation, looking positive but still early days.

Hi Cumbo,

"Paul, your Nazi beliefs invalidate your views." Please explain my "Nazi beliefs", if putting public health at the top of the list makes me a Nazi in your eyes, so be it.

Interesting to see anti vaxxers in Melbourne waving a foreign flag and holding up images of a despotic ex American President. How Un-Australian, they could be NAZI's in some peoples eyes.

Credlin's language is over the top, but even expert epidemiologists have suggested that to close down the whole of Victoria for 7 days is not justified, given that the positive cases are confined to Melbourne.

Labor could have reverted to the 'ring of steel' around Melbourne that was used in 2020. Maybe they rejected that because the police complained that it was a pain to man barriers for 24hrs each day.

Hi Mess,

"expert epidemiologists have suggested that to close down the whole of Victoria for 7 days is not justified,"

AND...the names of these "expert epidemiologists? Anyone can make such as statement, with or without facts to back it up.

This outbreak in Victoria is down to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, firstly its failed the quarantine test, its failed the roll-out test, no we hear its failed in private aged care as well. Morrison stay in New Zealand, you'll love it!

Speaking as a Victorian I am pleased that the
state government is acting responsibly.
Seven days is not long - but with new local
cases (five) on our door-steps - the lockdown is
necessary as are the restrictions to keep us all
safe.

We have to think of others in this pandemic as well
as ourselves and what protections are necessary.

To not do so is risky - and could end miserably.

As a recent resident of Victoria, I'm happy with the measures the Victorian Government have taken. Notwithstanding, I'm from the far-right and ultra-conservative, nonetheless I would rather, in this particular instance, enact more stringent measures now, than have to take even stronger, more far-reaching, disruptive action later! This virus is so virulent and ultimately dangerous, so all stops must be engaged to stifle this thing ASAP.

Former PM Credlin and especially her Sky AD colleagues are becoming one of Labor's electoral assets in Victoria.

Many, far classier, Liberal voting women in Melbourne and/or regional Vic are not happy with the LNP e.g. sexual assaults, and now compounded by Covid gamesmanship and media abuse aka Credlin.

Many Lib members are despairing when they know federal electorates may follow state electorates i.e. former blue ribbon east suburban and Peninsula seats becoming permanently Labor.... Health Minister Hunt must already be thinking of retirement plans....

We have to expect that cases will occur from time to time.
Started by one case with unknown ones appearing later.
The main problem in Victoria seems to be the tracking system.
Why didn't they just ask NSW for a copy of the NSW Services software ?
I saw a list of the bugs in their software and they should be able to
fix their faults quickly.
Victoria seems to written their own and are now debugging it live.
I presume the bureaucrats are doing it themselves.

Most Victorians realise this latest outbreak is due to the incomperdence of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, not dealing with their responabilities. They have known for a year that hotel quanentean is unsatisfactory, yet the Morrison government has done little to improve the situation. Their vaccine roll-out has been a shambles, a government big on promises but a failure on delivery. The latest is cross infections in aged care, the feds have failed to fully vaccinate residents and workers despite saying they would do so by the end of March. They promised no workers would be employed in more than one location, something the State government has achieved in facilities they are reasonable for, yet now one worker in a private institution, federal control, has carried the virus to another institution infecting a co-worker there .

To say; "The main problem in Victoria seems to be the tracking system." is totally false an attempt to deflect away from the failures of the MORRISON GOVERNMENT.

Pauliar,

You are not kidding anyone. Most people are perfectly aware that Victoria insisted on taking charge of its quarantine facilities and refused help from the federal government. Now that Vic Labor has cocked it up for the 3rd time they are desperately trying to shift the blame for their incompetence.

I have a lot of family and friends in Melbourne and without exception, they hold Labor responsible and think that Andrews is a twat.

shonkyminister, licking you wounds after your over the top claims about the Porter case, doesn't want his very dirty linen aired in public. What were you claiming, 'Cry Baby' Porter will be getting $10 million plus from the ABC, he's not getting a razoo! I'll be adding 'Cry Baby' Porter to 'Beat Up' Bolt in the shonkyminister file for future referencing.

shonkyminister's family and friends don't like Labor, nor do the NAZI's, should that surprise anyone, me thinks not!

You know that the latest outbreak of Covid in Victoria was caused by incomperdence by Liberals, Marshmallow Marshall and Scotty from Marketing with hotel quanentean in SA. Then ScumO' and his Federal Liberals have completely botched the vaccine roll-out across the country. Aged care vaccination of staff and residents is a joke, while Scotty gets the jab for himself, our old folk are left unprotected in commonwealth controlled homes in Victoria and elsewhere. Hunt the minister is reduced to lying on national TV about the vaccination rates.

Scotty from Marketing claimed Australia was at the head of the queue when it comes to vaccines, Australia is not even in the queue!

Oh Paul have the Liberals ever done anything right ?

By the way, the problem with the VIC tracker is that the software has
a number of bugs.
One is that it brings up the wrong day's data when a day or location
is requested. A simple fault one would think.
Why didn't they get a copy of NSW system and just change
the name and the url where it sends the data ?

Hotels for quarantine were the only facility available last year.
Six or seven specifically designed centres could not have been built
in the time needed. They would each have to accomodate some hundreds
of men women and children and families of varying numbers, provide
the bathrooms, kitchens staff etc. We can't find cooks waiters etc etc
now so where would we have got the staff ?
No, hotels were the only possibility or just stop all aircraft.
Paul would no doubt blame the Federal government for not building
those centres by the end of March 2020.

As the virus becomes more manageable then a study should be made with
the experience attained to design an ideal centre and quotes to build
obtained at leisure instead of in a panic rush and typical ridiculous
public service consultant prices.
That there will be another pandemic seems fairly certain, so perhaps
we will need to build them. They would be useful when bushfires or
other emergencies displace people.

Pauliar,

Can't stop lying, can you? I wonder if it is genetic defect or your mother dropped you on your head?

I never claimed that the ABC would pay Porter $10m. I said that the ABC had either to apologise or face a court case that they would lose and would cost the ABC $10m which includes damages, costs and lawyers fees (as per the recent Rush case.).

It would appear that the ABC has given a grovelling apology and heavily clarified its position admitting that there was not a jot of evidence against Porter that would stand up in any court (essentially admitting that they had no case).

Not nearly as serious as the 2 convicted greens paedophiles or the green violent bigot facing multiple criminal charges.

Hi Bazz,

"Oh Paul have the Liberals ever done anything right?" ABSOLUTLY YES! The D n' A of the Liberal Party and the ALP is about 70% identical. Heck when I moved to Queensland the ALP knocked back my application for membership, probably for past sins committed in NSW. As a Green I'm environmentally and economically lite, but soc1ally heavy, making me a Social Progressive. In the last 10 years of living in NSW at state level I voted Greens with second preference to the Liberals, and did same in a couple of Federal elections as well. I noted when doing scrutineering for the Greens about 15%-20% of Green votes favour Liberal over Labor, so I'm not the only one who does that. The Liberal party has produced more than one capable PM, even Little Johnny Howard had his moments in my book. Greg Hunt and Ken Wyatt and one or two others are capable ministers. In a run off vote for PM, given the choice, I doubt I would vote for Albo over ScoMo. Labor needs to ditch Albo if they want to be in with a winning chance next election.

Yes "Hotels for quarantine were the only facility available last year." Now we are in the middle of this year, and the Morrison government knew long ago hotel quanentean was not up to scratch and should have moved to fix the problem. As for staff, those unemployed former hotel cooks etc, got a new job for them, along with out of work staff from hospitality and tourism, plus the general unemployed all need jobs as well. Staffing not a problem. remember at the start of the pandemic China built a 1,000 bed hospital in a week, not asking for it to be done in a week, but a year, nothing. It took the Morrison government a month to just give permission for Victorian State people to step foot on Commonwealth land. No one, except dyed in wool Liberals, can deny the vaccine roll-out by the Feds has been a cock-up. Yes there were early on supply issues with Pfizer delivery, and the blood clotting issue with AstraZeneca, all in all could have put the roll-out a fortnight behind target. The truth is with no community spread, the Morrison government took a 6 week nap on their roll-out watch. with the Indian shemozzle, hotel quarantine jumped up and bit, not Victorian Labor like last time, but Morrison this time on the arse.

Pauliar,

Can't stop lying, can you? I wonder if it is brain damage or hormonal?

Vic Labor has consistently refused federal help to quarantine people in spite of its frequent cock-ups. Similarly, while the federal government pays for age care, what happens in Vic age care facilities is mostly controlled by Vic labor, and in typical left whinge tradition, they try and blame others for their cock-ups.
