Foxy,

While I agree with much of what you said I find the attempt to draw a parallel between the Holocaust and the plight of the Palestinians to be contemptible.

The Palestinians have openly declared their intention to kill all the Jews and pay terrorists and their families bonuses for murdering Jewish civilians.

I believe that Hamas and the PLO are closer to the Nazis than the German Jews.

Shadowminister,

The reference to Palestinians was Israel's different
treatment of Jewish settlements to Palestinian
communities throughout the West Bank, including
East Jerusalem. The two tier system of laws, rules, and
services that Israel operates for the two populations
in areas in the West Bank under its exclusive control which
provide preferential services, development and benefits
for Jewish settlers while imposing harsh conditions on
Palestinians..

In any case Antony Lowenstein's a Jewish journalist and
writer has covered the conditions in Israel rather well.
Reading his book, "My Israel question," might help.

Individual,

You've answered it yourself by bringing up why
ANZAC DAY should be remembered.

Case closed.

Speaking generally, for years we've seen
survivors raise awareness of the atrocities
they've endured, fighting for justice on
behalf of their communities. In order to do so
they've had to re-live the pain and suffering
inflicted on them and relive the ignorance of
the international communities that allowed these
atrocities to happen.

It's been pointed out that in the past years we've
witnessed several instances of mass atrocities meeting
the legal definition of genocide including by Daesh
against the Yazidis, by Myanmar military against
the Rohingyas, by Boko Haram and Fulani militia in
Nigeria and the Chinese communist party against the
Uyghurs.

So as we can see - it is worth remembering what happened
in the past - for the simple reason that it is still
happening today.
