There are some wonderful writers on feudalism , usually French: March Bloch, his colleagues Lefevre, le Roy de Ladurie, their teacher Henri Pirenne, and their student Fernand Braudel. Simply wonderful people, certainly Bloch who fought as a partisan - at sixty - before being captured by the Nazis - your ideological mates - tortured and shot.
