Joe,
"What a stinking pile. But even the worst smells go away eventually." Very true. http://www.history.com/news/6-violent-uprisings-in-the-united-states#:~:text=6%20Violent%20Uprisings%20in%20the%20United%20States.%201,Riots.%205%205.%20Battle%20of%20Athens.%20More%20items Wilmington Insurrection of 1898 On the morning of November 10, 1898, a throng of some 2,000 armed white men took to the streets of the Southern port town of Wilmington, North Carolina. Spurred on by white supremacist politicians and businessmen, the mob burned the offices of a prominent African-American newspaper, sparking a frenzy of urban warfare that saw dozens of blacks gunned down in the streets. As the chaos unfolded, white rioters descended on City Hall and forced the town’s mayor to resign along with several black aldermen. By nightfall, the mob had seized full control of the local government, some 60 black citizens lay dead and thousands more had fled the city in panic. While it took the form of a race riot, the Wilmington uprising was actually a calculated rebellion by a cabal of white business leaders and Democratic politicians intent on dissolving the city’s biracial, majority-Republican government. Once in power, the conspirators banished prominent black leaders and their white allies from the city and joined with other North Carolina Democrats in instituting a wave of Jim Crow laws suppressing black voting rights. Despite its illegality, state and federal officials ultimately allowed the power grab to proceed unchecked, leading many historians to cite the Wilmington insurrection as the only successful coup d’etat in American history. Makes the recent so-called Insurrection at the Capitol look rather small. Posted by Is Mise, Thursday, 21 January 2021 9:08:56 AM

Hi Joe,
Irony, Trump came into office claiming he was going to "Drain the Swamp!", the fact is he created a bigger, dirtier, TRUMP SWAMP. populated by criminals, shonks, retards, and suck-holes. Joe Biden is like the can of Pine-O-Clean in the toilet, after Uncle Fred's been in there for 30 minutes, getting rid of last nights chicken curry. Paul1405,
In his farewell speech Trump alluded to running for the presidency at the next election in one form or other I think was his expression. So looks like we haven't seen the last of him unless the Senate finds him guilty and bans him from running. My advice is for the Rep senators to join the Dem senators to find him guilty because if they don't I think it will come back to bite them on the bum at the next election. If he doesn;t get the Rep nominee he will probably run as an independent and drawing votes away from the Rep nominee making the Dem nominee unbeatable. So come on Reps this is your chance to squash Clown Trump and wash him down the sewer. Posted by Mr Opinion, Thursday, 21 January 2021 10:04:04 AM

The Great Reset is merely that latest installment in a 50 year-old plan to eradicate private property and dominate the entire planet by the end of the twenty first century.
Global, unelected special interests want people to blindly accept every aspect of their lives being controlled by a system known as technocracy. Neo feudalism will be the eventual result. People will be serfs similar to those lowest of the low during the Middle Ages, who couldn't do anything without the permission of their liege. The China virus chaos and the willingness of the hoi polloi to be frightened into submission and give up freedoms, and the climate change scam, will be used over time to teach people what is "best" for them. In an interview with Henry Kissinger in 2017, the star of the Great Reset as this new 'road to serfdom', is called, Klaus Schwab, gushed about a speech of Communist dictator for life, Xi Jinping, which put forward a concept of international order in the economic field. Xi! Communist China! It doesn't get worse than that. What these creatures envisage is nothing less than a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. Most of us won't be here by the end of the century, but those who will be are clearly being schooled for their roles as serfs and slaves. There will be no Donald Trumps to stand up to the fiends. And Americans will be denied another Donald Trump, not because they prefer an old fool like Joe Biden, but because Big Tech, Twitter etc, is telling them what to think. Twitter has global censorship policies that are being applied to Americans. Twitter is a friend of globalisation and an enemy of populism. They wanted an old fool and his communistic side-kick to follow their lead. A Trump America was never going to bend to Big Tech's demands and global aspirations. Big Tech is not loyal to any country, just to itself and world domination.

Dear Ttbn,
Neo Feudalism is the inevitable result of over-population and has nothing to do with this leader or the other. Unlike Malthus' theory, it IS possible to squeeze more and more humans on a planet provided you arrange them neatly in a grid of straight rows, columns and layers: this is because when stripped of autonomous movement, they only keep an infinitesimal amount of space. Inevitably, undisciplined masses who cannot control their genitals and reproductive urges require a tough disciplinarian, no way around it. There are only two ways out of this swamp: celibacy or mass sterilisation! As you mentioned, our generation is so fortunate that we will not be here by the end of the 21st century - but it is also our compassionate responsibility to do whatever we can to also avoid leaving behind offspring who will be forced to face that misery. Joe's choice:
"Levine served as a controversial public official in Pennsylvania leveling business and restaurant lockdowns and bans and defending them as a critical way to stop the spread of the virus. [plus points for that] Levine drew criticism for months for allowing “stable” coronavirus patients to be returned to nursing homes during the pandemic, receiving blame for the virus skyrocketing among the elderly in those facilities. [minus points] In May, Levine was called out for moving her own mother out of a nursing home facility despite the department’s guidance to admit “stable” patients who had contracted the virus. The same old line, except its no longer by the end of the twentieth century, they've add 100 years and its now the end of the twenty first century. ttbn you must be another one of those conspiratorial theorists believing without evidence that great unseen forces are at work out to dominate the world. Cricket Australia, beaten by the Indians, has gone political over Australia Day, like all the other half-witted, knee-bending, bare-foot sporting organisations in increasingly loopy doopy Australia. Australia Day matches are now January 26 matches! What a bunch of w.nkers. They deserve to be beaten by Holland.

ttbn is firing on all fours! Everything from cricket to Commo's.
In 1868, a cricket team composed of Aboriginal Australians toured England between May and October of that year, thus becoming the first organised group of Australian sportspeople to travel overseas. It would be another ten years before an Australian cricket team classed as representative would leave the country. ttbn what have you got planned for this Invasion Day? Hi Paul,
Yes, Aboriginal people here often responded extremely quickly to the new opportunities and new types of activities. A Cricket team in 1868 - barely 35 years after First Contact, and within two generations. But there was a cost: shifting from foraging - hunting, fishing and gathering - to a 'modern' economy and society meant the fading away of the application of traditions - and eventually knowledge - and use of linguistic terms which related to one way of life, in exchange for another way of life. Down this way, the last person to speak the Ngarrindjeri language here around the lower Lakes and Murray River, was born in about 1880 (and even he wasn't actually Ngarrindjeri), barely two generations after First Contact. Even David Unaipon, the bloke on the $ 50 note, born in 1972, a 'full-blood', couldn't - or perhaps simply didn't (which in a way is more revealing) - speak the full language. Culture lives if it is used, and lived, not simply known of. If it isn't, but becomes merely a memory in the next generation, then it is in grave danger of disappearing in the next one again, i.e. within fifty years. Biculturalism is an extremely fragile flower, perhaps sometimes impossible. Joe Posted by loudmouth2, Friday, 22 January 2021 6:24:50 PM

Joe Biden's team, first day on the job, tried to find Trump's "Covid-19 Vaccine Roll Out Plan" so they can speed things up. Shock! The Trump Administration had not developed any such plan, nothing, zilch, no plan what so ever. Shows what Trump thought of his fellow Americans. Hitler at the end of WWII said the German people were getting then, what they deserved for being so weak. Trump must have been thinking something the same. Hi Paul
"Falling Down" is one of my least favourate films. With main character William Foster descending into a violent thuggery - holding up a McDonalds and all. Its meant to be a black comedy, but its sick, displaying typically American, gun wielding, brutality. Posted by plantagenet, Friday, 22 January 2021 11:25:39 PM

Hi Pete,
I thought the movie had a deeper message, the ordinary guy Foster who thought he had done good in life, what was expected of him as a good loyal American. Through a serious of personal events in his life, losing his job at the defence plant, and the divorce from his wife and child, things he couldn't accept, put him over the edge without him realizing it. Then through a series of accidental encounters he spirals out of control. In the end before he dies, he asks the question; "I'm the bad guy?" Fosters downfall, puts Sergeant Prendergast (Robert Duvall) the copper, puts his life back on track. The movie is a counter the the fraudulent concept of the "American Dream". Hi again Pete,
I was going to ask, what are your favourite movies? I tend to like Aussie movies, and some British stuff, having few favourite 'Hollywood" style movies. I mentioned somewhere here recently the Robert Carlyle movie 'Priest', that's a good movie. "The Catholic Church in Ireland were very vocal about their views in having the film banned from theatrical distribution. The film censor disagreed and the film was released with an 18 certificate. This marked a major turning point in the relationship between the church and the Irish Film Censor board." Anything the Catholic Church wants banned, must be good. Heck! They wanted to ban 'The Life of Brian'! Funniest movie of all time. Posted by Paul1405, Saturday, 23 January 2021 6:24:41 AM

Hi Pete,
Some favourites there, The good the Bad and the Ugly, anything Clint Eastwood, 'High Plains Drifter' my number 1 Eastwood cowboy. Loved the spaghetti westerns, 'Trinity' movies with Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. 'Empire of the Sun' top movie, (anti) war movies 'Apocalypse Now' and 'All Quiet on the Western Front' the later version with Richard Thomas and Ernest Borgnine. Paul Newman in 'Cool Hand Luke'. Love Aussie movies, most recent 'Last Cab to Darwin' want to see 'High Ground' when it comes out. A good Aussie movie from the 70's 'Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith'. Like Russell Crowe movies from early stuff to recent, 'Romper Stomper' and I liked 'The Water Diviner'. Posted by Paul1405, Saturday, 23 January 2021 8:28:18 PM

ttbn, might be good news for you. The Fuhrer is thinking of starting his own political party, "The Patriot Party" a far right wacko mob, right up your ally, having experienced a crazy rightwing party in Australia, Corny Banana and the "Australian Conservatives" you will fit right in, along with a few other here. Think of it, rallies, torch light processions, snappy uniform, listing to long going on forever speeches from the Fuhrer, flag waving and patriotic songs, a snazzy symbol to identify with. Wow you'll love it!

Hi Paul
Yeah Eastwood's (starred in, directed, or produced): Good the Bad and the Ugly, Pale Rider, Unforgiven, Dirty Harry series. Flags of Our Fathers Letters from Iwo Jima, and Gran Torino were all top movies. ___________ I was lucky enough to see anti-war The Deer Hunter and 'Apocalypse Now' on first release when I was underage. Even though they were R-rated Dad just brough me and my 11 year-old brother along. When ushers/ticket sellers questioned our presence, Dad (in his commanding Colonel visage) vouched that we, his 11 and 13 year-old sons, were over 18. 'Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith' good, though violent. Never saw 'Romper Stomper' but liked Crowe in 'Master and Commander' and even more so 'Gladiator' (nothing like catapulted Napalm shots against Visigoths in the Morning :) Posted by plantagenet, Sunday, 24 January 2021 10:47:56 AM

Hi Pete,
“I like the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like... victory.” Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore. (Apocalypse Now) 'The Deer Hunter' excellent movie. The only war movies I like are anti-war movies. Have you watched 'The Odd Angry Shot' good Aussie movie about Vietnam, liked Graham Kennedy's part, not a noted actor, but he was good. More recent 'The Sapphires' was very entertaining with a couple of good performances. The story of Donald Trump's military service. http://www.businessinsider.com.au/donald-trump-avoided-the-military-draft-which-was-common-at-the-time-vietnam-war-2018-12?r=US&IR=T Similar story in Australia. I refused to register for national service so was automatically conscripted. The notorious "birthday ballot" was a 1 in 8 chance. Then Whitlam came in, and the end of Australia's involvement in Vietnam, and the end of conscription. Posted by Paul1405, Monday, 25 January 2021 6:10:24 AM

Hi Paul
Yep aware of the difference between Colonel off his rocker “smell of napalm in the morning." BUT Crowe's/Gladiator's use of "napalm" via Catapult shots is even more perversely interesting http://youtu.be/WVLGwTggO8U?t=2m5s Yeah, seen 'The Odd Angry Shot' with Kennedy "Harry" the world's oldest Corporal, and 'The Sapphires'. "Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan" was good - in part as it starred Travis Fimmel (most famous as Ragnar Lothbrok in the excellent "Vikings" series.) Trump avoiding Vietnam (rich daddy under the table?) - but decades later gladly accepting Russian money - was typical. So did you do any time as a boot camp conscript? before Whitlam closed down conscription? Pete Posted by plantagenet, Monday, 25 January 2021 2:40:13 PM

Hi Pete,
"So did you do any time as a boot camp conscript?" Nah, didn't hear a word from the authorities for the six months they could have made an arrest. The Fascists regime in Canberra were panic stricken by the mass unpopularity of the Vietnam war, and the huge number of non compliance with their national service orders. Very, very few were imprisoned, the most famous being the high profile Simon Townsend. He (Simon Townsend) gained national prominence on his anti-conscription stance, he said, "I suddenly decided to be a . . . objector to the Vietnam War. I then went to Sydney, I met people, I joined the groups and I read. And suddenly I had an intellectual basis for my objection to the Vietnam War. And that was when I got very busy, objecting, going to court and I ended up in Long Bay Gaol for a month. And in 1968 I ended up in the army prison for a month. I was court-martialled while I was there." Posted by Paul1405, Tuesday, 26 January 2021 7:36:02 PM

Hi Paul
I'm glad they didn't touch you. What a crazy time. My Dad, who was a regular army Major at the time, considered conscription a waste of regular army personnel and money - with many regular army NCO's and officers, who could have gone to Vietnam, instead being drawn off to train conscripts to go there. I was opposed to the Vietnam War from the outset, Ho Chi Minh had been an ally against the Japanese and was deserving of our respect and support.
I was also opposed to conscription for political purposes and when there was no threat to Australia. More deserving than Townsend was William "Bill" White who "...was a Sydney school teacher during the Vietnam War. In July 1966, White defied a notice to report for duty at an army induction centre. White was the first Australian to be a public conscientious objector to the Vietnam War. Both this initial application for total exemption and subsequent appeals were rejected. White was removed from his classroom and ordered to report to Army quarters at Watsons Bay. He refused to comply... He was jailed just before the 1966 election, and continued to seek conscientious objector status until he eventually succeeded on 23 December 1966...Quote Firstly, I am standing against killing - the taking of human life... Morality, to me, is based on the respect for life. I respect people, I respect their feelings, I respect their property and I respect their equality, on the basic conscientious assumption that they have, as I have, the unquestionable right to live. Secondly, I am standing against the war itself as a national and international policy. As war, by definition, has always incorporated killing, I would have been opposed to any war on this basis. On the third front I am opposed to a state's right to conscript a person, I believe very strongly in democracy and democratic ideals—and I believe that it is in the area of the State's right over the life of the individual that the difference lies between totalitarian and democratic government. My opposition to conscription, of course, is intensified greatly when the conscription is for military purposes. In fact the National Service Act is the embodiment of what I consider to be morally wrong and, no matter, what the consequences, I will never fulfil the terms of the act." It was these words that contributed to the memorable Moratorium Marches of 1970. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_White_(conscientious_objector) Posted by Is Mise, Wednesday, 27 January 2021 7:37:21 PM

White famously claimed to have been tortured whilst an Army prisoner, the Army strenuously denied this but White won his point when he called a serving Officer who was the Army's expert on torture and who gave evidence that the sensory deprivation that White had been subjected to was torture and that he (and the Army) used it in training soldiers to resist torture.

Criminals, mates, funders, suck-holes - pardon the lot.
But it seems, Trump can't pardon himself for matters involving State or municipal law. Incitement to riot may not be treason - a federal offence - but surely it's a crime against public order, and therefore chargeable. Not to mention six people dead.
