Dear Ttbn,

«You and I are well past our use by dates.»

This would depend on what use is life to begin with!

Have you considered what life is for before reaching such drastic conclusions?

Hi Joe,

According to ttbn; "culling is certainly needed" quick, fire up those furnaces!

"I'm of two minds myself"; but no brain, is that possible, to have two minds but no brain?

"younger, productive people who shake off the virus like a mild case of the sniffles," Fake News, its now been established that in 20% of young people, those under 35, after "recovering from the virus" these people are having long term ill effects, heart, respiratory illness etc. In older people the after effects are at a much higher rate. Look what happened to The Donald, he went completely loopy, sorry it had no effect he was completely loopy before he contracted the virus.

Surprise, surprise. Another article questioning the misinformation on the China virus has been taken down. The article, based on research by a Johns Hopkins academic, reveals that “the number of deaths by COVID-19 is not alarming. In fact, it has relatively no effect on deaths in the United States".

Deaths of older people have stayed the same before and after COVID-19. Since COVID-19 mainly affects the elderly, 'experts' EXPECTED an increase in the percentage of deaths in older age groups. However, this increase is not seen in the data. Percentages of deaths among all age groups remain the same as usual.

Johns Hopkins didn't care for this truth, so they 'disappeared' it.

Another one for the usual boofheads to sneer at. But, as most people who read the letters to the editor in newspapers never write letters themselves, there are people who read OLO posts without posting themselves. They are more important than boofheads.

Good on you Paul! So 20% of all young people are health compromised by the virus? I call nonsense as this is the latest in the usual slew of lies on the Chinese virus. This is all about sleazy politicians trying to wreck our economy in favour of the big end of town and unions.
The real story is the fact that the fear given out is met differently between male and female. Threaten a man and he is likely to start giving you back some major aggression. He will tell you to go away and then what he will do to you if you keep threatening him. Women are different as are your threats. You threaten their mothers, sisters, children and grandchildren and how this terrible disease will kill them all. Women become protective of their nearest and dearest whereas Men take the thug head on.
I must say it has been remarkably successful although you idiots should be ashamed of yourselves for effecting such violence against women. If only our governments dealt with this rather than the corruption we are facing.

Dear ttbn,

.

Here is an extract of a Time Magazine article (considered a reliable source) published on 20 August 2020 :

« The majority of COVID-19 testing happening in the U.S. right now uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology. These tests detect disease by looking for traces of the virus’ genetic material on a sample most often collected via a nose or throat swab. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) considers PCR tests the “gold standard” of COVID-19 testing, but, like all tests, they’re not perfect. Studies have suggested as many as 30% of COVID-19 PCR test results are inaccurate. (For comparison, the CDC in 2018 estimated that rapid flu tests have about the same rate of incorrect results.)

With COVID-19 tests, false negatives seem to be much more common than false positives—so if you get a positive result, you very likely do have the virus. If you get a negative result but have coronavirus symptoms or recently encountered someone sick with the virus, you should still self-isolate until symptoms subside.

False negatives can happen if health professionals do not go deep enough into the nose or throat to collect a good sample. The timing of the test matters, too. Infections can be missed if testing happens too soon after exposure, research shows. The reverse is also possible. “Sometimes after the virus has been killed off, there’s still a lot of [genetic material] left over in the body,” Mehta says. This can cause someone to test positive even if they’re not actively sick. Getting tested roughly five days after a possible exposure seems to be the sweet spot. »

JB, your real story is the nonsense you and others dream up. JB keep listening to that jackass Trump, after all he's your kinda guy!

""This is a disease that has a number of mysteries involved, compared to the usual respiratory virus," says Dr. Gregory Poland, a COVID-19 expert at Mayo Clinic. "On the one hand, we see very severe but variable manifestations. On the other hand, (we see) infection without symptoms. We also see a diminution of immunity over time with this coronavirus."

What's just starting to emerge, according to Dr. Poland, is this idea of COVID-19 "long-haulers," which is a term used to describe people who develop long-term and ongoing complications.
