I remember what might have been one of the first editions of the 'Sun-Herald', the SMH's Sunday paper, in about 1953. It showed a photo of a Black man chained to the roof of his house as whites burned it down.

And the murder of Emmett Till, about my age, beaten to death for smiling at a white girl in about 1956.

And the murder of the three voter-registration workers in the South in 1964, Chaney, Goodman and Schwerner. Every bone in Chaney's body was broken, like an air-crash victim, said the coroner; Chaney was Black; Goodman and Schwerner were white, Jewish kids from NY.

For weeks, President Trump and his allies have been laying groundwork to challenge the results of the election if he loses. Now, in the final days of the campaign, he has settled on a blatantly ahistorical closing argument: that the votes in a fair election should not be counted past election night.

“The Election should end on November 3rd., not weeks later!” he tweeted on Friday, two days after telling reporters in Nevada, “Hopefully, the few states remaining that want to take a lot of time after Nov. 3 to count ballots, that won’t be allowed by the various courts.”

“You would think you want to have the votes counted, tabulated, finished by the evening of Nov. 3,” he said at a campaign event a week earlier.

In reality, the scenario Mr. Trump is outlining — every vote in a modern election being “counted, tabulated, finished” by midnight — is not possible and never has been. No state ever reports final results on election night, and no state is legally expected to."

You are claiming that the significant Russian interference in the 2016 was not in support of Trump in any way? Well that flies in the face of what a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee found.

“After a thorough review, our staff concluded that the [Intelligence Community Assessment] conclusions were accurate and on point,” said Warner, the committee’s vice chairman. “The Russian effort was extensive, sophisticated, and ordered by President [Vladimir] Putin himself for the purpose of helping Donald Trump and hurting Hillary Clinton.”

There are only two sanctions directed at Russia as a whole and they were done reluctantly by Trump who purposefully undermined them. And what an understandably poor, flaccid, attempt at sanctioning a country when its leader has Trump eating out of his hand.
