Its the permanent costs that bother me.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-09-30/coronavirus-experts-back-covid-19-home-quarantine-for-travellers/12715344 "Western Australian police officers are using a new app called G2G Now, which uses facial recognition and location data tracking, for quarantine checks." http://www.g2gpass.com.au/ Let's quickly open up, so long as we have the check-point facial recognition track and trace for everyone that visits. It looks to me like every camera in the country will soon become a check-point. - And if they put this in every state, then everyone is tracked - You reckon this stuff is going to go away when there's no more COVID? Look at the products of G2G Pass parent company Genvis http://genvis.co/ https://genvis.co/privacy Check out their privacy policy. I cant even copy and paste it, looks like they want to keep it private. "Personal Information: includes a broad range of information, or an opinion, that could identify an individual. Personal information may include: - an individual's name, signature, address, phone number or date of birth - sensitive information - credit information - employee record information - photographs - internet protocol (IP) addresses - voice print and facial recognition biometrics (because they collect characteristics that make an individual's voice or face unique) - location information from a mobile device (because it can reveal user activity patterns and habits) Sensitive Information: Is a subset of personal information that includes information or an opinion about an individual's - race or ethnic origin - political opinions or associations - religious or philosophical beliefs - trade union membership or associations - sexual orientation and practices - criminal record - health or genetic information But of course there will be more COVID, when they lift restrictions for international travel. Told you all years ago they were building a transport control grid and no-one will be able to go anywhere without being tracked. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 30 September 2020 3:31:54 PM

The report explains (on page 13) why they decided it should reach the conclusion it did.
Not real economic modelling, but a dodgy political premise. BTW why was this thread started without a link to the report? It's at http://ipa.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/IPA-Report-Medical-Capacity-An-Alternative-to-Lockdowns.pdf Posted by Aidan, Thursday, 1 October 2020 12:18:41 PM

'protesting runner?
You mean they're spreading more COVID?' so you are obviously against driving cars Armchair. Face it you are going to die. Life is a risk and locking oneself away from a virus that you could easily have without knowing it is not one that most should be concerned with. The tyrants fining people for playing golf is much more a concern. Posted by runner, Thursday, 1 October 2020 1:30:45 PM

Lockdowns have been like “regressive asset stripping”, with the political class and elites “empowered” and growing wealthier at the expense of the middle class. Lockdowns have brought about one of the “greatest regressive transfers of wealth and power in Australia’s history”. Some 1.4 million people are either unemployed or are employed but working zero hours “due to the Jobkeeper wage subsidy.
The full report, “Medical Capacity: Alternative to Lockdowns”, is available online.
