Institute of Public Affairs modelling has found that China virus “elimination strategy” used by Federal and State governments could cost up to $319 billion, 23% of GDP, from 2020 to 2022. Twice the cost of Australia’s entire Health and Social Welfare, and equal to 2018-19 Commonwealth expenditure on defence, education, social security and welfare combined.

Lockdowns have been like “regressive asset stripping”, with the political class and elites “empowered” and growing wealthier at the expense of the middle class. Lockdowns have brought about one of the “greatest regressive transfers of wealth and power in Australia’s history”. Some 1.4 million people are either unemployed or are employed but working zero hours “due to the Jobkeeper wage subsidy.
