it is pretty easy to see who will win the debate. the insurance companies are agreeing with the global warming argument and national policy will be adjusted in time once they deciade not to insure certain areas.

Talking about polls and what questions are actually asked: were the respondents - reportedly 61% of them - asked if they were happy about the ever-increasing cost of electricity resulting from climate quackery and renewable energy; the huge sums of taxpayer money flowing into then hands of charlatans? Of course they were not!

Gauwd ! You are all still arguing about global warming !
Why don't you follow the science ?
Of course the globe is warming; IT IS THE SUN STUPID !
Four cycles giving a variable period between 600 years and 1000 years.
The suns irradiation, the Milanovitch cycles, the sunspot cycles and the
variation in cloud cover caused by cosmic rays.

The Roman Warming, the Medieval Warming, and the current warming right
on schedule, interspersed with cold periods when Rome collapsed and
1000 years later when the Vikings were forced out of Greenland, and Ice
festivals were held on the Thames in late 18th century early 19th century.
Next Ice Festival approx 300 years time.

Why do people have to invent much more complicated excuses to explain nature ?

Bazz,

I don't know why people argue about anything. It's a waste of time and energy. No minds are changed, and its bloody boring.

Bazz & Ttbn,

Religious people need a Devil, to focus all their fears and hates onto. AGW will do. Therefore anybody who doesn't join the witch-hunting is a denier, a spawn of Satan, a follower of all that is evil.

Of course there is warming and cooling. Of course CO2 levels go up and down - the're much higher now than 200 years ago. But 500 million to a billion years ago, there were many thousands of parts per million of CO2 in the atmosphere, and very little oxygen. Once plants got evolved, slowly, slowly, they removed CO2 from the atmosphere and produced oxygen, and they've been doing that ever since. And we live on that oxygen. So it's all a natural cycle.

Yes, the earth's temperature may increase another two degrees by 2100 - more CO2 in the atmosphere means more vigorous biotic growth, more food production - and higher temperatures means more regions closer to the poles which can be utilised to grow crops. So win-win-win.

Will there be some sort of tipping point ? Why should there be ? Will that be the next scare-story, that we're all about to reach one and die horribly ?

Joe

Nobody yet has been able to say at what temperature the Earth should stay. The Globalists have not got a clue, if the average temperature at the equator should be lower or higher, or the average temperature at the poles should be lower or higher to be normal. Though they want it colder than now. They do not want the climate to change, and they foolishly believe stop burning coal, gas and petroleum will bring us back to an unchanged climate.
