We are not talking about Australia, where demonstrators are really over-indulged. Different regimes take different attitudes to excited and possibly dangerous people taking over public areas. Surely we have had out ears bashed enough about different cultures to know that.

Individuals can be upset about what goes on in other countries; governments cannot.

Because Indonesia doesn't love Australia, it loves and covets "South Irian" and China would be pragmatic enough to allow them to have control of it, under China's guidance.

All that the Papuans would give us is a bit of self-respect, as in doing the right thing by our former allies. If we'd stuck up for them when Indonesia claimed Dutch New Guinea the present trouble and the genocidal murder of an innocent people would not be occurring.
