Apparently spurred on by the George Calambaris affair, Attorney General Christian Porter intends to legislate against "wage theft".

I like to see underpayment of wages described as theft, because that is exactly what it is, irrespective of employer's excuses and 'regrets' when they are caught out.

ttbn,
Yes, & include those wage thefts that claimed underpayment years afterwards when accommodation, food, etc was part of the agreed wage then.
Bureaucrats stealing salaries when nothing of benefit to society in return is evident.
Travel claims by Politicians for personal gain etc.

The bureaucrats are doing it the other way around: they are stealing from their employers - you and me, and all the other taxpayers.

Wouldn't paying someone a big salary from the public purse when the work performance is literally nil amount to misappropriation & relayed theft ?

Dear ttbn,

How does someone like George Calambaris show his face in public after doing that to low paid workers? He makes ScuMo look like an angel! Oh well, I guess that's human nature for you. Just makes me angry to know that I have to share my world with someone like that.

Mr. Opinion,

I would say that anyone who gips his workers would have no trouble at all showing his face in public and toughening it out. Sociopaths are like that. I did see somewhere that one if his restaurants once requiring to be booked well in advance of the date a table was needed has been almost empty. Perhaps there will be justice.
