David Flint brings into question the current trend of business leaders, “rewarded beyond the wildest dreams of rank-and-file Australians” to believe that their high and mighty positions in the world of commerce entitle them to be our “moral guardians”. (think Qantas CEO and his part in the downfall and demonisation of Israel Folau, along with the bullying of staff over SSM, for just one example).

Flint believes that there would be no objections to an executive getting on his hobby horse in a private capacity, but it is beyond the pale if company resources, shareholders’ money and so on are “commandeered” to impose draconian sanctions on employees and perfect strangers alike.

Kmart was recently sprung for banning the use of words such as ‘Jesus’ or ‘church’ in their photo processing kiosks, but ‘Islam’ and ‘Koran’ are OK.

There is an increasing list of arrogant stupidity coming from big business where not so long ago, no business person would talk about politics or morality if they wanted to retain customers. Examples of big business nannying and authoritarianism these days are legion.

It seems that the modern MBA s are as ill-educated as the BA s. And the really odd thing is that such left-wing crap is coming from private enterprise, which used to be the bastion of the Right. David Flint emphasises this about face in the fervour for gender-bending: one of the latest trends among the Western elite is that a biological male can claim to be a woman and take part in women’s sports. This used to be the prerogative of East European communists shysters in Olympic Games teams.

We can punish politicians who think that they know better than we do by not voting for them; in theory, we could refuse to patronise big business for having the same attitude. The problem is, though, that most politicians are now much the same, and big business is gradually squeezing out the small businesses which give good service and still show their customers and bit of respect leaving politics to politicians.

ttbn, get a bit of lefty politics from one business person and silly old Flint is jumping up and down. Rupert Murdoch an American citizen has been interfering in Aussie politics for 50 years with nothing said from the hard right.

BTW, the political donation system ensures the rich (business) will always have an unfair say, their money buys it for them.

Was it Big Business who bankrolled Clive Palmer at the last election in order to redirect votes, that were going to be loss by the Coalition, away from Labor and back to the Coalition parties?

That, with a promise to give $1000 extra in their tax refund to voters to switch their vote from Labor to LNP, is what got ScuMo back into government. Now ScuMo's surplus is probably stuffed and he will have to bring in millions more cashed up Chinese to keep the economy afloat sufficient enough to have a surplus at the next election to buy votes from Labor voters again.

I've only one thing to say to ScuMo: Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor, Labor .....................................................................

Like the two comments above, this has nothing to do with the topic, but between 2006 and 2018, we have had inflicted on us by Australian politicians, who could have stopped them, 650,700 residents who were born in China.

Dear ttbn,

I think there are a lot more than the 650,700 figure you just cited. Take a trip to Sydney, a city of over 5 million, and have a look around. I reckon Chinese make up 1 in 2 people in Sydney. And all because successive coalition governments since the 1990s have been using cashed up Chinese to keep the Australian economy afloat: a quick fix that has given Australia a Chinese future.

The really strange thing is that these 'woke' corporates are working against their allies, the Right conservative free enterprise spruikers. The Left, that hates capitalism isn't going to support them, so it looks as if big business has a death wish.

Mr Opinion,

If the objective of your posting was to display your ignorance and casual racism then you have succeeded spectacularly.

1 - There is no evidence that "big Business" funded Clive Palmer.
2 - As per the previous election, most of the voters were from the Libs not labor
3 - Labor also tried to buy his preferences.
4 - As for the Chinese, the anti chinese racist statement by a Labor MP did little for their desire to vote for Labor.
5 - The Chinese make up about 5% of the population.

Dear Shadow Minister,

If you tell me how to upload photos with my posts I will put some in to show typical scenes from around Sydney viz trains, foodcourts, shopping centres, etc. Then everyone can do their own head count to test whether you are correct in saying only 5% of the people in the scenes are Chinese.

I would have thought that Clive Palmer is a bit busninessy himself. It was all his own money that he put in to the election, and he said that he was satisfied with the result. He certainly helped to keep Labor out.

Mr Opinion, I think your both right, it's a question of geography and timing.
I would not challenge your comments about one in every two people being Chinese, but you must direct us to the fact that you were in a place where this is the norm.
Now on the other hand, let's go into the suburbs at large, and see that the prevalence of Chinese is dramatically reduced and in fact somewhat non-existent.
For instance ALL major cities are famous for their 'China Towns', well most larger ones anyway.
So it is that this phenomenon is possible.
Then there is the other factor of races gathering and living in groups or certain suburbs for the usual and obvious social inclusiveness and cohesion allowing people to assimilate much quicker due to the non threatening nature of living amongst ones own race or kind.
I have to say I find the figure of 50,000 Chinese a month settling in Australia, a very 'hard to believe' number of immigrants.
That equates to approx, 2,000 a day, for the last twelve years?
I hope you can see the reason for my reservation about those numbers.
I don't know, but I imagine you got that number from some reputable or govt body, and I would question their terms of reference.
If not my reservation stands.

Mr Opinion, no not al all, I actually DON'T know anything about computers.
If you are suggesting I don't want to see or know the truth, your way off.
In fact ask any other OLO'ens and they will tell you, I ALWAYS seek the truth.
I do not shy away from the truth, I always want or demand it, and that is why I end up in these stouches with some here on OLO.

Yes, individual; he should get a medal. Palmer did more for Australia by helping to keep Labor in opposition that anybody who gets those gongs on the Queen's birthday ever did for us.

Mr O

I have no doubt that you will find concentrations of all ethnicities. A photo shows just that, but is no evidence of total concentrations. The census is far better and is what I quoted.

Dear ttbn & individual,

Is it looking like some anthropogenic global warming denialists like you are now switching camp and starting to accept what the scientific community has been telling us for several decades?

Same thing happened during the 1970s and 1980s on the hole in the ozone layer. Governments and business and others who thought the scientific community was lying about ozone depletion eventually came on board when the scientific community was able to demonstrate that humankind was facing an extinction event if the world did not take immediate action against ozone depletion.

I doubt you've been around long enough to be aware of how long I've been saying that Humans are contributing heavily to Global Warming.

Mr O,

You could simply load them to a dropbox account and provide a link to it. However, as I described, photos of lots of chinese in Chatswood is a poor representation of the demographics in the whole of Sydney.

Mr Opinion,
If you are into taking photos of chinese people I suggest you get on the main concourse at Central station, Sydney, from about lunchtime. There are thousands streaming through to the suburban trains and coming from the University and Tech college across Broadway.

My Sydney contacts tell me they are all students here on temporary visas

The news last night showed a confrontation between pro and anti chinese government students at a Uni somewhere here. Apparently an off shoot from the Hong Kong troubles.
