If you don't want to have National Military Service and every able-bodied PERSON trained in the use of arms and encouraged to keep their skills sharp all their lived then you won't have an armed force that is capable of protecting this country.

Until & unless we are armed with a couple of hundred nuclear armed cruise missiles, & a hundred or so similarly armed ICBMs pretending our defence force is capable of defending us is just that, pretence & a joke at that.

If we really want to be defended we have to give our forces the weapons to do the job, & enough of them to last more than a few minutes. They have to be lethal, & that means nuclear armed. Anything else is criminal. If we can't overcome our dislike of nuclear weapons, we had better learn how to roll over before our new masters.

The only alternative is we could send SR against them. If he didn't bore them to death, he may get them laughing so hysterically at his ideas they couldn't aim straight

Your last contribution is probably one of the best and most profound you've ever written for The Forum. You've enunciated very clearly indeed, what we as Aussies would need if ever we were to contemplate taking on, the entire Chinese Military machine.

At best, we should try to negotiate our way out of any potential conflict. Even the US, would know they were in a real 'blue' if ever they went up against the Chinese who happen to have a massive nuclear capability.

Notwithstanding, the UK, France, Russia, and the United States, China could hold the world to ransom, by the sheer size of their Military. And I think we should in some measure thank the Chinese for keeping that North Korean lunatic in line, as nobody else seems capable of doing so.
