I have only just caught up with this thread.
The Labour party has announced that they will bring in legislation to
toughen up 18c of the Human rights act.
They are to bring in a bill, pun not intended, to increase the funds
to the Human Rights Commission and will with 18c impose restrictions
on "hate speech". Statements by the Greens indicate that free speech
will be suppressed. Not in so many words of course but various named
political commentators who oppose the greens and labour would expect
gaol or be banned from broadcast media. Bolt, Jones, Kenny and some
others were specifically mentioned to be removed from broadcasting.

What I heard Shorten and diCostello, or whatever his name is, say made
it clear that any opposition will be closed down. I presume the
legislation would have enforcement provisions.

So what I have read here tonight will be under threat if Labour wins.
I have never heard politicians speak like this previously.
