Toni Lavis- I thought about your comment. I don't agree as I believe the communists are still influencial despite their votes- their policies are still adopted by the Labor state governments, within the departments, in the media (especially the ABC). That's why I believe the decline of the far left Green's and others are not problematic to the aims of the movement.

I wish I could give you a better researched answer but that is the best I have for now.
