Personally he has the right to that opinion, I do not agree with it, but I get suspicious when it comes out at a convenient time decades later.

It actually does raise an interesting topic.

Your position would appear to be, and forgive my liberty in paraphrasing, that anyone is entitled to their opinion but we should play the ball not the man/woman and focus our efforts in challenging that opinion/argument rather than the poster.

This was certainly the path I endevoured to take for many a year on OLO. However there came a time when the right seemed rather emboldened and proceeded to vomit up all kinds of triumphalist nonsense during the Abbott era. In the process they really did reveal so much about themselves that it became impossible to ignore, and I'm afraid impossible to forget.

I will admit you kept yourself relatively in check in comparison but your slip is still showing none the less. Just look at your post about “Tijuana's Health Department revealed on Thursday that some migrants are suffering from tuberculosis, chickenpox, skin infections, and there have been four confirmed cases of HIV/AIDS”.

Highlighting the poor condition of these unfortunate people is one thing, but using it to promote revulsion is another. This mirrors the kind of fearmongering employed about the millions of Jewish refugees who flooded into Western Europe to escape persecution.

Ultimately if someones open and earnestly held opinions flag them as something worthy of condemnation/ridicule/challenge then that is what they should get.
