Bit surprised to see local forest home to bikers trails, even using old pallets to create obstacles.
Reforming old tracks and building new ones just wondering who pays if any one is hurt Posted by Belly, Thursday, 15 November 2018 11:24:18 AM

On Cape York we get the southern tourists who think they're the only ones on the track. You drive along and, swoosh-there's another 4x4 with a tourist behind the wheel coming around the bend on the wrong side of the road. Some drive so fast that the trailers swing onto the oncoming vehicle's lane. There are stark reminders beside the track to slow some of them down at times.

Nothing to say Issy, I suppose when you only have 0.08% (Vic State election, how many people make up 0.08% of Vic voters, zilch!), community support like the Shooters have you'll grab anyone even the hoons if it will boost your numbers.
Issy, how about if we paint wombats and koalas on the sides of the hoons 4X4's and let shooters at em'. Now there's an idea, why didn't you suggest that? Gee, even the Commo's got 0.5% of the vote, and the sex crazy mob got 0.27%, that's four times your vote, ain't the Two Bob's be up for a bit of slap and tickle? The Greens a very healthy 11.4% of the vote. Posted by Paul1405, Thursday, 15 November 2018 3:16:29 PM

There's help available at responsible gun-clubs and psychiatric clinics. Severe cases will be shot. "Wherever you find addiction, there you find denial. The alcoholic who says, “I can quit any time I want,” and the gambling addict who says, “If I hit this time it’ll all work out,” are in the same boat as those who say, “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” They are all addicts in denial, refusing to see the overwhelming evidence of the damage caused by their behavior.
When allowed to continue unchecked, addictions destroy lives. The neuroscience of addiction is the same regardless of the behavior or substance. The brain doesn’t care if it’s porn addiction, shopping addiction, cigarette addiction, video game addiction or whatever you like, including gun addiction. Here’s how it works: Dopamine is the brain’s neurotransmitter that is released when you expect a reward – when you expect pleasure. The brain is flooded with dopamine when a shooter prepares to fire a gun. Firing a gun releases endorphins – the pleasure hormones – the same ones we experience with sex, with taking certain substances, and with other enjoyable activities. Since the pleasure (BANG! and endorphins) follows the anticipation so quickly and reliably, the brain easily learns to connect the psychological loop: guns – dopamine – pleasure/endorphins. Some brains then become preoccupied with seeking more dopamine. More guns." Posted by nicknamenick, Thursday, 15 November 2018 3:25:22 PM

Well yes, even in near coastal NSW the idiots do drive far too fast in the forests
4x4 my self, but long ago learned you do not need to floor it to enjoy the bush Same types get on the beach, permit or not, and drive in the water throwing it all over their car Posted by Belly, Thursday, 15 November 2018 3:35:10 PM

Ah! Issy, with the Green vote out gunning the Shooters by a factor of 142 to 1, I can understand why you try to recruit all the misfits on earth to your gunnie brigade. I see you're not content with just the shooters, you also added the hooters, a big mistake. Then trying to snag the fishers, what sort of bait are you using there? And even trying to rope in the cow cocky's as well. Who'll be next the ice cream sellers?
Now the serious question; At your Shooters and Hooters branch meetings, how do the hooters arrive? Do they crash their Hoon-Mobiles, aka 4X4's war surplus jeeps, through the front door to let you know they are in! please fill me in, or what, I want to know. Hirō "Hiroo" Onoda surrendered in 1974 , he had led the Japanese Hirooter and Shooter platoon against 4x4 Hoons of Cape York who gave him a hooroo send-off . Now the Nationalist Park has squads shooting North Korean drones and Arab prophets carrying swords in the desert.

The greens, and you know I am not a fan, are and have been for a while the third force in our country's politics. Irks me! to see them putting very good things before parliament, that we support and should have done first. You out poll the association of big hat wearers we know a Nationals. Hi Belly and Issy,
I've been having a bit of fun with me old sparring partner, Issy, who I quite like on the forum. At election time you get to meet a lot of odds and sods from all over the political spectrum, and I must say I've always got on well with those of the different persuasions. Not met many from the Shooters Party, probably because they are all in camouflage and are difficult to spot. I did wounder why that bush was handing out HTV's for the Shooters and Hooters last election, now I know it was a party member in his Rambo outfit (camouflage). I bet Issy sticks the odd sprig of Wattle in the hat when he's out hunting, so the Koalas can't spot him. Being serious, the Shooters Party policy on 4X4 in National Parks is totally open door, anything goes as far as they are concerned. There shooting policy in parks is a little restricted, but only slightly. The incidences of these "Weekend Warriors" getting into parks and forests is increasing. The damage they a doing is substantial, they are a big danger to others, and the restoration work etc cost the taxpayer millions. Okay Issy, if its not a Jeep, what is your favourite vehicle for hooning in National Parks? A four wheel drive Goggomobil. Posted by Paul1405, Friday, 16 November 2018 5:43:28 AM

As I said Issy, the policy is open door, totally unrestricted, no consideration for the environment what so ever.
Quote from the Shooter and Hooters policy from your link. "We will fight for free access to all areas and facilities within National Parks and State Forests for four-wheel driving and camping, and assert the right of responsible four-wheel drivers to have permit free use of appropriate beaches for recreational purposes." FREE ACCESS TO ALL AREAS! A totally irresponsible and reckless policy. Do you not agree. Posted by Paul1405, Friday, 16 November 2018 6:48:29 AM

The beautiful and unspoiled rainforests attract tree changers who clear fell the scrub for houses so they can see it all . Tropical beach fronts become shopping getaways. If National parks can also become bog tracks without protected habitats then these too can be developers dream estates.

//You forgot the link,
http://www.shootersfishersandfarmers.org.au/nsw_4wding_and_camping// It's not a very good link, the information it contains is manifestly untrue. According to the Shooters, Looters & Pillagers: "NSW is home to some of the most diverse and appealing natural landscapes in the world, most of which is best explored by four-wheel drive and motorcycle vehicles." I'm willing to tentatively accept that first bit; I've not really done enough travelling outside NSW to be able to draw a reasonable comparison so I'll take their word for it. But as an experienced bushwalker and kayaker, I can attest idea that a 4WD is the best way to explore the countryside is nonsense. It may be the best way to explore the countryside that has 4WD tracks, but there are lot of amazing places that are only really accessible on foot. And of course all the waterways and lakes and stuff where you obviously can't take a 4WD unless it's amphibious. I also take exception to the following proposals: "We support amending ADR 13/00 to cover LED light bars and spotlights on roof racks and bull bars and will continue to oppose any legislation to restrict the use of bull bars." Bad idea: I was walking home from a mates place the other night along a fairly well used stretch of road, and was damn near blinded by an oncoming 4WD lit up like a Christmas tree, at a rough estimate, emitting more lumens than the Trinity test. Not safe at all, and if you need that much light to see where you're going on a streetlit road you probably shouldn't be driving at all. "We will support an increase to the speed limit on the Pacific Highway and Hume Highway where appropriate." The Pacific Highway is definitely not a 4WD track. This has nothing to do with recreational off-road driving, they just want to go faster. Sounds like the sort of thing hoons would be in favour of.... Highways through national parks will allow for faster access to prime shooting fields of fire. Higher road-kill speeds necessitate more dazzle for self-defence against oncoming incoming street missiles.

Paul and Toni,
Now that we are talking about the same thing, per the link, I must say that I agree entirely with you both. I had the harrowing experience of seeing motorbikes heading towards people sunbathing on Middle Head Beach, I was on the headland at the northern end of the beach having gone for a bit of a walk. There was absolutely nothing that I could do, being well out of voice range, but I yelled anyway, the two bikes were heading straight for the people who were lying in a depression to keep out of the breeze, fortunately, the bikes jumped the depression although one back wheel came down within a foot or so of one person (I saw the impact later). The bike riders seemed completely unaware of what they had nearly done and continued to the end of the beach then headed over the frontal dune and back to the road. I have no objection to fishermen being able to drive on the beach as they are not interested in driving on the soft sand and would generally keep to the tidal areas and consequently do no damage, but the beaches are no place for driving just for the fun of it. Same for the forests, all motor vehicles do damage when off road; I do a lot of hunting and it's all on foot except for a few places where we go on horseback. ise mise we agree will never understand why some think driving far too fast is a must, no driver ever has the right to put anyone in danger beach fisherman myself it is lower gear and stay away from people at all times for me
In the bush same but always, every second, expect an idiot on the wrong side of the road at any time, no off track stuff for me Posted by Belly, Friday, 16 November 2018 11:26:38 AM

Belly,
The following incident, although it happened on a public road, illustrates only too well what can happen on tracks. A group of local lads were out on their motorcycles on the Old Grafton Road, which isn't used much; one went for a spin along a very winding section and as he had been gone for a long time, one of his mates went looking for him, unfortunately, they had a head-on collision and both were killed. It was presumed that one of them was cutting a corner when they collided. Posted by Is Mise, Friday, 16 November 2018 1:07:13 PM

Know it well Ise Mise both via my best in the world fishing trips to Evans head and my work took me to Casino and Grafton every few weeks, we have the old highway, and the still killing Bulahdelah Mountain road
Yesterday met the usual, about twenty bikers out to test their luck Too many on the wrong side of the road Posted by Belly, Friday, 16 November 2018 4:43:47 PM

Belly,
This is well off topic, but!! I know Evans Head very well, having lived there for six months on a boat building job. Great fishing spot and I well remember one afternoon when one of the local boats was returning up river, one of the crew (in scuba gear) went over the off side and attached a nice (about 12 inch) red snapper to one of the breakwater fishermen's lines. When he hauled it in the word spread like wildfire and soon there was hardly room for another line along the breakwater/retaining wall. Needless to say, the joke was kept very private for a few weeks. Posted by Is Mise, Friday, 16 November 2018 7:08:13 PM

Ise Mise while I know the north has better fishing my heart is in the Evans head airport beach and those to the north.
Mate, in fact cousin died on the first beach He died as he lived fishing not doing the annual comp anymore but miss it. Many snapper came home with me after a boat trip but Jewfish and Taylor from those beaches, mostly the northern ones Sure we can be forgiven for sharing great memories Posted by Belly, Saturday, 17 November 2018 4:29:27 AM

What a joke! According to the Forums resident supporter of the anti environment Coalition mob the prerequisite for anything is, its okay as long as its FUN for some. According to Shadow Minister, graffiting, vandalism, and all other forms of antisocial behaviour, including hooning are okay, providing someone is having FUN.
Makes a change from his usual mantra, its okay as long as someone is making money. Then again Shadow is a true environmentalist, he believes a dirty big toxic incinerator should be built in the Labor heartland of Western Sydney, not in leafy Liberal territory of course. Shadow I hate to ask for the umteenth time, but when can we expect an arrest in the 'Beat Up' Bolt case, after all you did say a long time ago, an arrest was imminent! Wrong again! SM is far from the only poster who looks at every subject from a weird slanted view based on biased politics
HOONS no suggestion they are good drivers out to have fun, we all see them all fear running in to a group on a bush track. Far from good drivers their fun can kill, never the less it gave SM a chance to throw rocks at the greens, who by the way if not out polling the one nation mob and too the Nationals go very close Posted by Belly, Sunday, 18 November 2018 4:46:23 AM

Hi Belly,
Unfortunately we do have several political weirdos from the extreme edge of politics on the forum, a real collection of ratbags, Shadow Minister is but one of them. I once thought of SM as a "reasonable" sort of conservative, but I think the downfall of his much loved hero, The Mad Monk Abbott, and then the failure of Mr Money Bags, was all too much for the lad, then faced with the reality that ScumMo is another Liberal nincompoop in the top job forced poor Shadow over the edge, he has become totally politically unhinged. Not content with supporting the political irresponsible hoons in Canberra, he is also supporting the other ratbags, the environmentally irresponsible hoons as well. Shame on you Shadow Minister! Belly, all we can hope for is that this collection of Coalition losers are turfed out on their ear, and a good Labor government led by the current wise man of Australian politics, Bill Shorten, is installed to clean up the train wreck the Coalition will undoubtedly leave behind. Ronald Reagan believed that nuke missiles can turn around in mid-flight. "A naval officer appeared to become frustrated when he was asked whether submarines commissioned by the Australian government could last more than 20 minutes under water by One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson. “Is it true that pump-jet submarines can only stay underwater for 20 minutes?” Hanson asked “I assure you they can last for longer than 20 minutes,” Rear Admiral Greg Sammut said. “A pump jet is a form of propeller, it has no bearing on how deep a submarine can go, how long it can stay under water.”
High-speed shooting in national parks will be boosted by PM Hanson who drives a 4x4 and fires her ferals faster than Libs and Labor. Posted by nicknamenick, Sunday, 18 November 2018 8:09:13 AM

One Nation, could benefit by that Lady staying underwater, without breathing apparatus, for about an hour.
Her IQ seems even less than her supporters, no true however hard it is to think anyone could be lower She may regret putting Loathsom Latham behind the wheel in NSW Posted by Belly, Sunday, 18 November 2018 11:16:17 AM

we always wander in threads, any thread, this one has merit, yes forests and national parks can be fun.
People should always have the right to visit, drive 4x4 too, even the dreaded off road bikes But all have an accelerator, no need exists to push it down hard, no driver/rider ever has the right to put another person at risk. Posted by Belly, Monday, 19 November 2018 6:02:01 AM

As four wheel drives become more affordable, more of these "enthusiasts" are illegally entering National Parks and causing substantial damage. In one case, but not isolated, the Queensland Government is to install cameras in the Samford Conservation Park in an attempt to stop 4X4 hooning which has been on a steady increase within the park. Between their demands for unrestricted shooting, and unrestricted 4X4 driving in our ecologically sensitive areas, if given their way, the Shooters and Hooters would destroy these national treasures in no time.
"We don’t want our favourite activity curtailed by bureaucrats and tree huggers." A quote about hooning, there is also a video clip of one of their mob hooning in a National Park, its on the MR4X4.com.au web site.
