That the old cold war definitions of left = communist/right= capitalist no longer exists has not eluded me, however, what seems to have eluded you is that the definitions of left/right have morphed over time and today common parlance has progressive / left whinge pretty much as analogues including the toxic identity politics etc, whereas free speech and individual liberty seems to have moved into the right/conservative arena.

While I understand that you would prefer the self-conferred title of progressive, I view it as a bit of an oxymoron considering the intolerance and venom shown to anyone that deviates from the "progressive" orthodoxy such as Germaine Greer etc.

Until such time as the "non-conservatives" actually demonstrate behaviour that is worthy of the appellation "progressive" I will continue to use the moniker left whinge.

Look, I thought we had gotten off to a fairly even start in this thread and I even complimented you on a 'measured response'. I let the 'genetics for idiots' jibe slide and although there was a little to and fro it was all pretty innocuous and general in nature.

Then you called me personally a 'sick puppy' which signalled to me it was gloves off or did I get that wrong? Not that I mind more testy exchanges, though they are always a distraction from what we are discussing.

Look I get that you have the assumption that the left are more measured and gentle in debates and that bombast and put-downs the domain of the right.
