Renewables excluding hydro currently produce 3.2% of the worlds power, & that most variably & unreliably.

There is not enough money in the entire system to build the capacity to generate enough power to charge electric cars, let alone do it reliably at a time when it is likely to be required.

I have absolutely no problem with idiots wasting their money in any way they wish, on one condition. The tax payer is not required to subsidise their foolishness. If electric cars are no longer given subsidies & their fuel generation & distribution is funded entirely by those electric car owners, I have no complaint.

When the whole activity is driven, like alternate power generation, by shysters, I will knock it at every turn.

I'm puzzled, given that most electricity is generated from fossil fuels, the power driving electric cars is largely fossil fuel generated, and given the losses in generating, transmitting power and battery losses for electric cars let alone the higher power consumption in building them it is an open secret that electric vehicles lead to more CO2 emissions than petrol driven cars.

Of course, in France with 80% nuclear driven generation this figure would probably move in the other direction.

Until Aus moves to CO2 free baseload, electric cars will be more about virtue signalling than emission reduction.

Do we all understand we yes me too can get it wrong? and do we all know on both sides of this debate teams of shonky experts are toiling away putting lies in front of us.
