Despite Dutton saying that the Turnbull regime would not sign the Compact, Turbull still refuses to rule out signing it.

A comment on the news tonight that the compact has rules against new
media talking against immigration. No details yet.

How about Australians all move to Queensland and rename it Australia ?

According to The Australian newspaper -

A government source said it was not considering
dropping out altogether at this stage and that it
was possible to sign up with "reservations" about
the text. There was a fair amount of time before
December when the signing ceremony will take place.

What Mr Turnbull said was, "We are examining the
agreement, we will NEVER sign up to anything that
diminishes, or undermines, or limits our ability to
keep Australia safe."

Just heard a criticism of the compact on tv.
Apparently it would require the government to force news services to
take positive attitudes to immigration matters.
The same would also apply to judicial officers.
I have the document here so will go searching through it.

Bazz,

Given the media's current attitude to immigration, they are likely to be cheer leaders for the Compact without any encouragement or pressure. I would like to see what you have heard/seen if that is possible.
