Congressman Kelly is the owner of a car dealership and the discussion had been about the Republicans rescinding an Obama initiative stopping the practice of discriminating against African-americans by charging them more for car loans based solely on race, even when all other factors were equal. He had made some retort about car dealers being discriminated against (something Carlson would never show because it would have neutered his concocted trash) and Maxine let him have it with both barrels.

Great viewing and hopefully she will keep up the good fight.

Steele, overt discrimination is common in Australia. Last Sunday afternoon while in a shopping centre in Sydney's eastern suburbs, my wife chose to look at some dresses on a rack at the front door of a woman's upmarket clothing store. Another woman had been looking at the same rack of specials, and walked away, there were several other female customers inside. I noticed two sales assistants chatting at the rear counter, paying no attention to the customers. As soon as "T" took a dress off the rack to have a closer look, one of the sales girls took off in our direction, virtually running, and with a very loud. "CAN I HELP YOU!", which "T" replied "no, just looking". Then the girl stood there like some kind of guard.
I'm not saying it was because my wife could be mistaken for an Aboriginal that the sales girls suddenly felt it necessary to become all customer focused all of a sudden, well with the one customer who's only difference was her skin colour, but it does make one wonder. I said to "T", "haere mai" Maori for come. I asked "Doesn't that blatant action of the sales girl offend you?"..."No, I've put up with that all my life."and its not the first time I have seen that reaction to my wife in shops.

Well, except for all the white supremacists, Islamaphobes, people who say 'I'm not racist, but...', people who claim that racism is a myth, people who think that brown-skinned people having an opinion on racism is innappropriate... you know, all the racists.

The salesgirl's reaction was obviously based on skin colour, probably because the store had had stuff nicked by 'coloured' people.

It's the same in the rental market but the only houses trashed lately around my way have been done by European Australians.
