It appears that “Wear it Purple Day” - the indoctrination of school kids into the wonders of  gay, lesbian, and transgender young people – is on the agenda for schools tomorrow.  Brighton Secondary School in Adelaide's south is using an electronic billboard on a prominent road to urge students to "wear it purple", featuring the LGBT rainbow.

Australian Conservatives MLC, Robert Brokenshire wonders why don't they have a blue day for heterosexual students? Why don't they have a special day for people with learning disabilities.

I wonder why they don't get on with the business of educating and stop mucking around with political indoctrination.

Cant agree they are 'mucking about.'

They are working very diligently and very hard to create the world they want and they have a very clear view of what they want.

They want Australia to loose its sense of identity and national pride so Australian care about nothing that is politically related. The want us to all give up and see Australia as a nation of bitza's who stand for and believe in nothing but their own personal financial survival.

This means leaving government to the government and accepting whatever "laws" they make.

They want Australians to giveaf about nothing AND they are achieving outstanding successes.

That rectangular weapon of mass deceit, distraction, social conditioning and control is one of the most effective weapons ever invented.

Dear Referundemdrivensocienty,

«They want Australia to loose its sense of identity and national pride»

Well, I happen to want the same, but I fail to see how the stupid actions of that school could achieve anything of the kind.

Please explain the connection if you can:

One of those most obsessed in recent history with Australian identity and national pride, was Juliar Gillard; and had she still been in power, probably all schools would have acted the same.

It conflicts in a very minor way with Epilepsy Day, which is also a subject of concern to students and educators,

http://www.epilepsy.org.au/fundraising-for-purple-day/

I don't know how educators get on there are so many interests, definitely parents, demanding initiatives on all manner of things. How to get back to teaching is the problem. If only Ming hadn't stuck his nose into education originally :( and it was only for politics, but of course.

One of Sydney's most exclusive private schools the Anglican church run Kambala at Rose bay Sydney, in the heart of Turnbull territory, is also celebrating Purple Day.

Principle Shane Hogan said; “We’re celebrating Purple Day like any other school … All schools are invited to do so and it’s to celebrate diversity, acceptance and respect,’’
“The values being promoted are in line with the Christian ethos of the school in acceptance and respect of all people.’’

Once explained, parents at the $28,500/year school agreed with the principle that the day should be celebrated. There were a few who objected.

Mr Hogan said it was a shame parents had not raised concerns with him because his door was always open. He said in addition to Book and Science week, Kambala would be celebrating Wear it Purple Day on Friday.

Can't see what's in the day that's causing a couple of old crusty conservatives to get their feathers all flustered over it.

Shane Hogan is talking through his backside when it comes to Christianity ; and the parents are too cowardly to object for fear their spoilt-brat sebastians will be discriminated against by the hard Left activists.

Good schools know what good education is. They
have all the concepts. Unfortunately, one
cannot educate children on conceptions alone.
Children present problems which do not disappear.
There are situations which arise that must be
dealt with.

Situations that call for helpful and realistic
reactions. A school's and a teacher's response has
crucial consequences. It creates a climate of
compliance or defiance, a mood of contentment or
contention, a desire to make amends or to take
revenge. It affects the child's conduct and
character for better or for worse.

These are the facts of emotional life which make
teaching and learning possible or impossible.
At their best, teachers and schools recognise this
core truth. Learning is always in the present tense
and it is always personal.

Bullying is a huge problem in many schools. Now imagine
if you were a gay child? These schools have taken such
a positive step to celebrate the differences that exist
between children. Recognising individual differences
and teaching tolerance and acceptance is a positive
step in any child's education.
The children at those schools can only
benefit from this instead of ignoring the fact that
gay children do exist - they are making them feel safe and
welcome at their schools.
All I can say is BRAVO!

Most schools are now making a serious attempt to educate students to understand and accept gender diversity. Some of the old school sacred cows such as compulsory rugby for the boys, and home ed classes for the girls have well and truly become a thing of the past.

Although there are still schools, few in number, which are maintaining those ridiculous, anachronistic School Cadet Units, fortunately they too are disappearing rapidly. All will agree there is no place for the practice and parading of barbaric militarism through Cadet Units in our schools.

So a few students want to hijack the epilepsy recognition day for SSM. That's just sad.

Yeah, seems unlikely. Because Epilepsy Awareness Day is 26th of March.

http://www.epilepsy.org.au/fundraise/purple-day/

And it's currently August.

Maybe they're trying to hijack Uruguayan Independence Day?

Dear runner,

That's exactly what these educators are trying to do.
To let kids know that it's alright to be who they are.

Gosh, but it is going to be all unicorns, rainbows and LOVE when that final bastion, the last gasp impediment to wonderful gaydom, is crushed underfoot by the advancing 'Progressive' legions.

Fly the flags, ring the bells, dance in the streets, say 'Nah, nah, nah!' to the Xtians. A huge blow-out of booze, recreational drugs and whatever goes in the 'love' department.

So, apart from the resulting large increase in STIs and the random 'Please look at Moi' attention-seekers trying to shock with public displays of their 'love', it is all going to be a let down isn't it? Not exciting protesting and blame-shifting one's sorry decisions onto others anyhow.

It will be all so mainstream and "You've got everything you wanted and now it is up to you to make something of your life, no excuses, just like everyone else".

One wonders what Tony Jones' earpiece will be having to say when gay is so mainstream and so yesterday (and soon, so last year).

Gosh! from a simple statement that "That's exactly what these educators are trying to do. To let kids know that it's alright to be who they are." leoj has been shocked, he is shocked that kids knowing who they are is the thin edge of the wedge. Leo might have the perfect mold to fit all children, a one size fits all type where children are indoctrinated and uniformed, into an ideal world of conformity... parades and marching... an ideal world for all, where any hint of individuality and nonconformism is shunned.

Paul1405,

LOL What a silly, l'il sausage you can be and forever going off half-cocked. Did you happen to notice that the post was a general comment and not directed at the poster?

Hoping that your Eastern Bloc Greens or hangers-on are not involved in vandalising those Hyde Park monuments,

SMH today,
“Today’s vandalism of statues of James Cook and Lachlan Macquarie is a cowardly criminal act and I hope the police swiftly find those responsible and bring them to justice,” Mr Turnbull said in a statement posted on Facebook.

“But it is also part of a deeply disturbing and totalitarian campaign to not just challenge our history but to deny it and obliterate it.”

And they didn't take over 13 May.
Everyone has heard that where a rainbow touches the ground you will find buried treasure. Not many people believe this any more, and science suggests there is no such spot anyway - where a rainbow appears to touch the ground is completely dependent on where you are standing. Leprechauns don't dispute this but say it is missing the point. Which is that in chasing rainbows what matters as much as anything is knowing when you are in the right spot from which to view the rainbow. It depends as much on knowing where you are coming from as where you are going, which requires a particular kind of instinct.

Dear Foxy,

«To let kids know that it's alright to be who they are.»

Who wouldn't endorse such a noble cause?!

But is it alright to consider ourselves to be that which we are not?

We are NOT our body and we are certainly not the parasite genes and hormones that run it and send sexual messages to our brain.

"Hoping that your (paul1405) Eastern Bloc Greens or hangers-on are not involved in vandalising those Hyde Park monuments,"

Trying to sow the seeds, ah! Leoj. Nah, could be the work of decedents of ex-cons not happy with Cookie and Mac, and the treatment of their ancestors . Could be those "Bolt Attackers", could be the work of pigeons, could be anyone.
Ideal assignment for that privately armed citizens militia you boasted about, guarding old monuments.

p/s; I don't have any Eastern Bloc Greens, or Reds, or persons of indeterminate colour, for that matter.

The statue graffiti is gone, and modern folk history destroyed.
Andy Warhol's Small Torn Campbell Soup Can (Pepper Pot), 1962, sold for $11,776,000 . The statues of Vickie , Jim and Mac should be in the art gallery with historical notes .

Lets hope none of those vigilante citizen militia types, that some find acceptable in society, were responsible for the homophobic attack on peoples cars during the Lane Cove Theatre Company's production of 'Holding the Man', a gay play. After last night's performance, 12 cast and audience members returned to their vehicles outside The Performance Space at Longeuville, to find their tyres had been slashed.
The attack comes at a time of significant debate about LGBTI rights in Australia, and less than three days after the Australian Electoral Commission closed enrolments ahead of a national survey on same-sex marriage.
There are those on the extreme right who advocate vigilante violence as the means to correct what they perceive as societies social ills.
Where do you and those politicians you say you rub shoulders with, stand on this kind of behavour leoj?

Yeah Paul lets hope that the police are more diligent and honest than when the 'gay' activist rran his car into and bombed the Australian Christian lobby office in Canberra. Also hope they are more diligent than allowing bigots abuse Margaret Court and try to shut down public meetings especially when they allow the sort of trash the homosexuals put on in Sydney.
