The ABC's Managing Editor Michelle Guthrie has written
a letter of complaint to Quadrant describing Franklin's
piece as vicious and offensive.

"To take issue with our programming and our content is
one thing," she wrote, "But to express the wish that,
if there were any justice, the horrific terrorist bombing in
Manchester would have taken place in the BC's Ultimo studio and
killed those assembled there is a new low in Australian Public
debate.

Most Australians would agree except of course for those
who claim to be welded on supporters of "free speech."
Strange though how they attack people like Yassmin Abdel
Magied, who made her comments on a private Facebook
account that the ABC had nothing to with. Who apologised,
and deleted her comments.

I guess "free Speech" is selective for them.

I agree. The whole concept of Islam is wrong on every single level and it both sickens and amazes me that our leaders (and others) can condone the nonsense it's based on...

I was shocked to read a few months ago, that both Sydney and Melbourne's Royal Hospitals have a special unit to fix up the hundreds of botched female genital mutilation cases that come their way every year.

I was saddened to read that there are over 200 cases of child marriages, some as young as 9..in Australia.
None of these facts cause a ripple in the media world, but let some clown spit on a muslim woman because they're offended by her burka..then all hell breaks loose and it's headline news.

I rarely heard of a muslim 20 years ago, now they dominate the world news, and not in a good way.

The extra $1.3billion compulsorily extracted from hardworking Aussie taxpayers every year is better spent on improving the digital access of the aged, people in remote areas and even people in poorer countries of strategic interest to Australia.

Why spend it on celebrity knobs like Tony Jones and provoking (make that scripting) Ultimo Hipster reactions to gays and Muslims?

The services that the national broadcaster prided itself in, are yesterday. The crest of the wave is well past and to keep up in the world, to educate themselves and to be able to reach out and communicate, Australians and especially the growing aged demographic, but most certainly youth too, must have access to and be confident in using for their daily lives, the full range of digital technology. Put the ABC's allocations into that.

The old hat 'national broadcaster' is not needed. It has nothing to do and is making a nuisance of itself in exercises in social activism.

Perhaps Islam should be banned from any country that openly allows one to peacefully participate in the beliefs of Christianity.

All of those that rant and rave about the ABC, its easy to see they would not miss a minute of it. They know the lot.
ABC accountable to the govt of au. Its only the far right that has a problem with that.
