As another branch drops off the dying Liberal Party tree – federal director, Tony Nutt – Terry Barnes in The Spectator today opines that Nutt is a scapegoat for “ for the lacklustre and unimpressive election campaign of the prime minister himself.”

This sounds pretty right. Turnbull is starting to look like the John Cleese character, chopped to pieces by another 'knight', still screaming defiance and acting like a winner.

Turnbull sowed disloyalty and will more than likely reap disloyalty.

Leoj,

Shorten is irrelevant to any discussion on Turnbull. No sane person would want Shorten as PM; no sane person would want a socialist Labor government made up of its current politicians, given the mess Labor dropped Australia in.

But, that's no excuse for Turnbull, who has done absolutely nothing to repair Labor's damage. The reason that Turnbull is not the leader of the Labor party is that the Labor party rejected him. Leadership, or what passes for leadership with him, is all he is interested in: he has no values at all - he stands for nothing except Malcolm Turnbull. He's a 'nothing' person.
