AC,
Yes, I saw that article and was waiting for more info to come out, as there must be more teachers that know far more.

My suggestion is that you start a new thread because the story shows that the radicalization starts at home. Remember the woman with the baby in the pram holding the sign that advocated beheadings.

So much for MODERATE muslims

Hey Banjo,
I'm not sure if Graham prefers if we only have on thread going per topic.
I can see that it might be worthy of it's own thread, but since you already saw the article before me and began this topic I'll leave the decision to start a new thread up to you.

We definitely need more information on this case.

It seems that Punchbowl Boys High School has been having
problems that go back a few years. Why were these problems
not dealt with earlier? How vast were these problems?
According to the NSW Education Minister Rob Stokes,
he gave assurances that the state's schools were safe
and that Senior Police had informed him that the risk
of behaviour linked to radical Islam was "absolutely
minimal".

However, be that as it may there are still questions that
need to be asked.
Why were the Punchbowl Principal Chris Griffiths and his
Deputy Joumana Dernaoui removed only recently (March 2)
when there were concerns over their resistance to a program
to prevent extremist Islamic behaviour?

Our schools need to be safe - both for students and teachers.
Teachers deserve respect for the way they have to deal with
the complexities of all children in their care.

Inappropriate behaviour should not be tolerated.

We can only hope and trust that under the new Principal,
and with the help of the police things will be brought back
to normal. This appears to be a community issue - with
children at the school displaying learned behaviour.
Parents need to become involved.
This must be addressed and quickly.

Foxy: Senior Police had informed him that the risk of behaviour linked to radical Islam was "absolutely minimal".

A directive from above for Political Correctness sake. We don't want to upset these moderate moslims that will force them to turn into Jihadi.

Oh, these moderate moslim parents will become involved alright & demand that Islamic Rights prevail, or else. As we see in the EU & the UK, courtesy of Ifitkhar.

Dear Jayb,

We visit my mother in the dementia wing of her nursing
home. You display all the symptoms of the residents we
meet there.

G'day JAYB...
Your comment to FOXY, concerning senior police briefing the Education Minister, Mr Rob STOKES, '...that the risk of such behaviour being linked to radical Islam, was absolutely minimal...'; being a directive from on high, may well be on the money?

Nevertheless there are some coppers once they reach the dizzy heights of senior executive level, become all 'touchy feely' and have a severe attack of Political Correctness? No doubt there're few who've been strongly cautioned not to stir the pot. It's very much a political organisation I'm afraid JAYB.

I had this really great boss when he was at Det.Insp level. However on promotion, he purchased himself a new 'mess-dress kit', a nice leather briefcase (for the purpose of transporting his banana sandwich), and was clearly transmogrified onto a much loftier plane of sagacity and mastery. Thus becoming one of the few in the job to be truly enlightened. Never again would we hear any more expletives and blaspheming that previously poured forth from his mouth? At squad briefings, we all thought he'd experienced some religious moment?
