It looks as if our illustrious Queensland Labor government has found yet another way to rip a few dollars out of us. I received a “final notice” for the registration of one of my cars last week. The car was already out of registration by then, so this included a penalty for late payment, & a registration reinstatement fee. I had never received the usual registration payment notification.

With the new penny pinching policy of no registration label on our windscreen, we are pretty much dependent on receiving a registration notice in the mail, to advise us it is coming due. Few are organised enough, or computer savvy enough to set up our own early warning system. Having been used to the label on the windscreen for half a century this penny pinching is annoying.

Interestingly, when I started bitching about this I found just locally, 2 others have been caught the same way, & another who was booked for driving an unregistered car, 2 days before his overdue notice arrived in the mail. Like me, they had not received the normal registration due notice.

What do you reckon a planned scam, or just the usual total inefficiency of the bureaucracy & leftie governments? Like the Hospital payroll computer system, the left & computers should never be allowed to get together. Just ask Hillary about computers if you don't believe me.

I suspect an element of planned scam. Fines are an important revenue stream and it's an easy way to up the percentage.

Odd things happen in Queensland. From what I've read about the Brigalow corporation, Queensland is virtually an independent private country.

Eg why is the STATE OF QUEENSLAND is registered as a corporation with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission under CIK No. 0001244818,

May I suggest you are a little short sighted by seeing this through the misty veil of political idology. This just prevents you from seeing the wood for the trees and that's just what they want you to do.

The issue here is that what has happened to you is deliberate. This practice of leaving the advice of payments being due, but gee, they were due last week, is a technique all govts of all political persuasions will do as standard practice.

May I suggest that indicator of this is that the reason for no longer issuing new windscreen stickers was for this very reason, to default as many people as possible.

Don't forget Queensland is a private for profit state so this practice will become rampant right throughout the state and even the country.

May I also suggest that to see things in ideological terms is a mistake as it clouds our judgement and gets us all hed up over things of no consequence. This pleases the powers that should not be no end.

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion but allow a very lively debate within that spectrum. – Noam Chomsky.

example of what Noam Chomsky means.

Does the media ever tell Queenlanders about Queensland being registered on the NYSC?

Such things are outside the spectrum of acceptable opinion. They are undiscussble topics.

You and I might get to choose the pilot but we sure as hell do not choose the flight path.

We have had the same system in NSW for a number of years and those with half a brain are able to cope with it without fuss or problem. I myself have never had any problem. I can understand how the likes of Hassy would have difficulty with this, never being able to adapt to change, and needing to be spoon fed and all by the nanny state. How about taking a bit of self responsibility. organizing yourself with your affairs, get computer savvy as it is now most necessary in this day and age, I have had to do it. Otherwise you can continue driving around in your unregistered horse and buggy, and moaning and groaning about lefty governments at the same time.
