Firstly, I must congratulate Sydney’s long serving progressive Lord Mayor, Clover Moore on another stunning victory in last Saturdays local council elections. All this despite years of both the Labor and Liberal Parties hatching plots to “Get Clover”. It started with the Labor Party adding a swag of supposedly Labor voters from the old South Sydney Council to the City of Sydney, in an attempt to unseat my favorite Lord Mayor, and install a Labor lackey as numero uno, the new Labor voters simply turned on the party, and voted for the independent Clover. The next attempt at “Get Clover” came from the Liberals as they made up a new law that a member of State Parliament could not hold the office of Lord Mayor , Clover also held the State seat of Sydney. Clover chose the mayoral job over the state seat. It all backfired on the Liberal Party when Clover’s candidate Alex Greenwich romped in with the by-election, another “Get Clover” failure!
The third and most recent attempt by the Liberals, seen democracy thrown out the window, as they tried to win the top job for their gal Christine Forster. The Liberals master plan was to give business two votes and local’s only one vote. How undemocratic can you get? The result was a disaster for Mike Baird and his Liberal cohorts as Clover out polled their gal three to one. So much for business not supporting progressives, they know a good Lord Mayor when they see one!
Since being first elected to the top job by supposedly Sydney’s “fringe dwellers” in 2004, Clover has seen off a succession of State Primers from both sides of politics, and the way things are looking she just might see off the present incumbent very soon.
The vote was something like Clover 60%, Liberal 20%, and Labor 10%.

I understand Paul's glee. Clover would be right up his alley. As a South Australian, I don't care which Marxist is the Lord Mayor (or is it mare, in Clover's case?), and I have a Sydney brother who, too, would think she is Christmas. Thank heaven I am not a Newsouthwelshman, having to put up with such stuff. The very strange woman waived her rainbow colours prior to the council election - even though she has no more say in SSM and homosexuality than I do, and it undoubtably worked for her, suggesting, to this outlying South Australian, that her excellent 60% of the vote derives from queers and people like Paul. I separate 'people like Paul, because I don't think he is queer, and he is often coherent and agreeable.

ttbn, should I be thankful that you don't believe I am "queer"? It seems to be rather a derogatory term applied by mostly those suffering from homophobia. Are 60% of Sydney's voters "queer"?
Clover has been Sydney's best Lord Mayor in living memory, possibly ever. Along with her independent team she has been able to apply a progressive approach, while striking a balance between development and the needs of the community. Even Clovers most ardent detractors will freely admit that. Both traditional Liberal and Labor voters have abandoned their affiliations and voted "Clover", that was evident on Saturday. I suppose I should be upset, because Clover decimates the Green vote in Sydney, even Green members have told me they vote for Clover and not our candidate. But I can't be too upset.

I must say I had a little chuckle when Barnaby Joyce claimed Malcolm Turnbull would go down as one of Australia's greatest ever Prime Ministers. Putting him up there with the coward and Nazi sympathizer 'Pigiron' Bob Menzies and the accused war criminal Little Johnny Howard. When pressed Barn could not list any achievements of Malcolm's PM ship, too numerous to list he said. When you have a "friend" like Barnyard who needs enemies!
