Paul,

You should be thankful, unless you want me to think you are queer, which you say is a derogatory term. I've heard homsexuals refer to themselves as 'queer'. I saw person on TV insisting that he was a 'poofter'. I've seen an autobigraphy title "A Queer Man" (didn't read it).

You suggest that I am a homophobe. Well, I neither hate nor fear homosexuals, so I am not a homophobe; I have nothing against them personally, I just have certain views on the 'rights' they are claiming, and their assault on the Marriage Act and important traditions. They are not harming me, as an individual, at all. It's just that there is more to society than individual demands from any minority or individual.

ttbn, I did not suggest you were a homophobe, what I said was "It seems to be rather a derogatory term (queer) applied by mostly those suffering from homophobia." In the case of Clover I believe she has a much wider appeal to Sydney voters than simply relying on a substantial vote from those of the gay community. There are many members of the gay community living in the City of Sydney, but in no way could that translate into a 60% vote at election time, nothing like it. I can only assume given Baird's manipulation of the voting system, where business had two votes to residents one, it backfired and a significant number of traditional Liberal business voters, voted for Clover. As did many traditional Labor voters, people who recently voted for Tanya Plibersek.
