In the White Australia days the language test for the Unwhite contestants to enter Fair Go country was in Gaelic or Welsh. These are British languages you see just like English . Scotsmen are English eh?
So Pat Dodson spoke his maiden speech in the Senate using an old Australian language Yawuru . For Auld Lang Syne. He shook hands with Pauline even though she has difficulty with Yawuru , Bundjalung, Yorta Yorta , Ngarrindjeri and other forms of British Queen's English.

Dodson can speak the 'Clockwork Orange' language (it's name I can never think of) if he wants, for all I care; he will still be as much use as udders on a bull in politics. The senate gets sillier election by election.

If you talk in money and good cents, the cost of prison custody can be understood. And if the grass roots problem is a sense of self-worth and even purpose in being alive then just maybe the Dodson talk in a mother tongue has convinced some young murris not to do jail.
That's not $illy.

I'm sure that the other 6 or so native speakers of Yawuru were really impressed.

The words on a banknote are insignificant but having the note is valuable. Some may need that to be explained which could take a while.

"Some may need that to be explained which could take a while"

The never-ending story of eternal victimhood would take a while. Forever. The salve is bank notes, that is true.

Plus new Toyota LandCruisers (top deck nothing less) and other freebie Whitey stuff to trash as well.

Hey, there is plenty more where that comes from. eh Bro?

Nothing about the very large number of indigenous who are doing well and are feeling well, though. Best kept closely guarded secret business.
