Quote "but courts and tribunals look to expertise and evidence. "
I hope you don't mean experts like the FBI experts who effectively had hundreds of people convicted on testimony about hair samples. Evidence was the hair samples expertise was the FBI lab technicians courts, judges, lawyers and juries fell for the fiasco. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/world/fbi-admits-it-fudged-forensic-hair-matches-in-nearly-all-criminal-trials-for-decades The cases include those of 32 defendants sentenced to death. Of those, 14 have been executed or died in prison. So here alone we have 14 more than likely innocent people dead. Posted by Philip S, Monday, 29 August 2016 6:09:20 PM

Hi Rojama,
The Australian article on Saturday described the work at least three psychologists in Cindy Prior's case. After knocking around Indigenous affairs for fifty odd years, it's struck me again and again that many, many Indigenous people, especially (don't ask me how) those in 'management' [i.e. glorified clerical][ positions, are very paranoid to the point of being psychopathic. Maybe I'm unlucky but I never had a single decent Indigenous boss, every one being not only incompetent but usually very suspicious to the point of paranoia. They usually had the most basic knowledge of their supposed field of expertise, if that, and often used physical threats to get their way. I've toyed with the outrageous question that is it possible for an entire 'culture' to be sociopathic ? That intelligent people, en masse, can be at least slightly crazy ? That they can't tolerate the slightest criticism, or any ideas that are different. Everything is perceived as a threat. I lent a book on management to a friend who had worked in an Indigenous program, called something like 'Snakes in Suits', about how often managers are a bit psychopathic, and he laughed, rather bitterly, in recognition. Another Indigenous friend refers to Indigenous complainers like Cindy as having a 'little dog syndrome', that they have to bark and snarl at everyone, out of fear and resentment at the world, 'full of sound and fury but signifying nothing'. I'll bet that everyone who has worked with Indigenous bosses, so-called 'managers' who do nothing from one day to the next except fill a well-paid position, can tell many of the same stories, that their do-nothing performance, incompetence and bullying paranoia, all go together. I'm 70 years old. I haven't got that much time left. Posted by Jayb, Monday, 29 August 2016 8:52:00 PM

Hi Jayb,
Yes, my bet is that, across Australia, there are thousands upon thousands of well-meaning people who have been bullied, screwed, dropped in the sh!t, perhaps again and again, and ultimately destroyed by Indigenous 'managers' and who still live on to tell others of their experiences. Well-meaning people, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. But perhaps there is somebody out there who has had a good Indigenous boss ? Somebody ? Somebody who loved to go to work every day to work with a constructive and helpful Indigenous manager who had his or her own people at heart ? Constructive and helpful Indigenous managers who had their own people at heart, not just their own careers and the pecuniary interests of their family and mates ? Yeah, right. This 'woe is me' crap is getting out of hand and this whole case is a complete and utter joke and shows what a ridiculous nation we have become.

I grew up with the Priors in Ayr. One of the notorious two Ladies in Townsville who run the Aboriginal Organizations under it's various names over the years. The ones where the Funds keep disappearing & they are alternately the President or Treasurer. Strange that. Neither have ever been convicted, after some very heavy negotiation that is. These two only have their own reputations at heart. A lot of mouth but never do anything for the Aboriginal People of Townsville really.
